After watching Kathy Griffin’s latest YouTube video, I have to wonder if she is certifiable.
Back in May she sent her career into a nosedive after posing for a photo holding up the fake, decapitated head of President Donald Trump. In an attempt to save said career, she held a press conference that quickly turned into a pathetic rant. It did not revive this career of hers, at least here in the U.S. A few weeks ago, she posted a rant on YouTube blaming loads of people in the entertainment industry for her downfall. Again, her moribund career was not revived. And this week she released another rant.
On the off chance you don’t know what the definition of insanity is, go here, and it will quickly become apparent why I question Griffin’s mental health. Here’s hoping it is merely a case of Griffin misplacing her Thorazine.
Anyway, in her latest diatribe, she bounces from the topics of feminism, to how much she has done for the LGBT movement, to why Lena Dunham is hurting the movement, to her current world tour, to how her legal bills mean she can’t donate money to another cause being promoted by Norman Lear (He’s still alive? — The Wife), to how no other woman in American history has ever endured the wall of crap she’s had to, to how she has no shows booked in the U.S. when she gets back from her world tour. more

The easier question is: Wuz she ever sane?
Nobody would deliberately look the way she does now unless mentally ill. Why did she do that to her hair and face? Good gravy, woman, at least put on a floppy hat over those jug ears! Geez!

On a New Year’s eve at Times Square, she’s completely shit faced and announces to the whole world she wants to suck off Anderson Cooper, a card carrying homo who has to wear a butt plug because his sphincter ain’t worth shit. Cooper can no longer contain Obama’s campaign promises. So now this female is looking for sympathy? Uh, yeah… Even the most radical leftists are distancing themselves from her. Can’t figure out why.

This just shows how these types think they are the good guys, and they should be able to do whatever they want. The logical fallacies start with they are the good guys and go downhill from there.

As much as I detest what she did, it’s quite shocking to see someone go downhill so quickly. This may be the rock bottom she needs to turn her life around. I’ll be praying for her to seek Jesus Christ.

Griffin did what every no talent hack does. Overtly appeal to the gay community as their career starts flagging. Margaret Cho, Janeane Garofalo, etc.
When they find her playing pattycake in her own filth, maybe Anderson Cooper will get jealous and invite her back.

Yes.
I watched a couple of her videos back in the day, and she was pretty funny at times (in a gossipy and snarky way), making fun of the celebrities she encountered in Hollywood, and some of the goofy things they did and said. That was what she was good at, and she should have stuck with it. Unfortunately, she branched out into gay and lesbian causes and national politics, and then suddenly she wasn’t so funny. Add to that the fact that she’s not getting any younger, plus she’s pissed off a lot of people in the Industry, and you’ve got a recipe for disaster.
Now Kathy’s riding the Bitter Regrets Special to Has-been Land, and she’s desperately looking for a way to get off that train.

I saw her New Year’s count-down with Anderson Cooper a few years ago, and it was like peering through a one-way mirror into an insane asylum.

Snarking and dishing about Hollywood is a narrow niche with finite material, most of it well worn already.
She was already ageing badly. The LBGT and Lefty bit revived Ellen DeGeneres’ dying mini-career under almost identical conditions, so Griffin tried the same turnaround recipe.
She’s so horrible on these home youTube rants that she makes Keith Oelbermann’s basement screaming seem almost professional and sane.

Firefly: I agree with pretty much everything you say, but I find it hard to believe that there’s not an infinite supply of humor-related stuff coming out of Hollywood these days, particularly as it applies to sexual harassment topics. I mean, how can you run out of material in such a target-rich environment?
