Is Ricky Gervais powerful enough to change Hollywood’s hectoring culture?

Conservatives have tended to shy away from Hollywood award shows because, in the past few years, they have all started sounding like rehearsals for Orwell’s Two Minutes Hate.  This year, though, the Golden Globes, which hands out awards based upon votes from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, hired Ricky Gervais to host the affair, despite knowing that he would be politically incorrect and would show no fear when faced with Hollywood’s royalty.

Let me ask you guys and [ I assumed your genders] gals some questions.
Do you believe that Ricky Gervais

1. Slapped any kind of sense into that Hollywood crowd?
b. Embarrassed them? Even a smidgeon?

Will there be others who come out and become Gervaises?
Or did he just spur them to become Megawoke?

  1. It was a great smackdown, but today I guarantee every elite Hollywood snob in there looked in the mirror and said to themselves “I know he wasn’t talking about me.” They are that far gone that the temporary sting of Gervais’s roast is already forgotten.

The next awards show they’ll put a 1000% woke elite in to host the event. They’ll start by ripping Trump and then the Hollyweird creeps will know its open season if they get called up on stage.

  2. All by himself, Gervais and his (delightful) commentary last night will not have any effect on, as you put it, Hollywood’s hectoring culture.

If he gets some fellow combatants on the ramparts of reality, though, that might be the start of something good. Maybe his example will encourage that.

  3. No, he probably just pissed them off, they’re too egotistical to ever be embarrassed or shamed. There might, just might, be a few who follow Gervais’ example, but for the most part, most will be too concentrated on their careers to take chances.

  4. Ricky got to the point that he has “F U $”. Unlike the rest he got there without selling his soul and I’m thinking he is ready to retire because he wont work in that town ever again. good for him.

  6. After Trump wins re election in 2020, “some” of these elites will sway. You will recognize it when they start claiming “They were behind Trump all along”.
They are all toadies after all.

  7. No, Ricky’s just feeling out his historical banter of offending and shock.
Hollywood blows so much smoke up these no-talent nepotistically employed anal orifices with awards and trophy’s, nothing phases them until the money stops.
    Ricky included…

  8. Yes, he embarrassed the hell out of them. If there is no follow up from other other sources it will quickly go away. However, I believe there will be follow up. I think arrests of possibly some high profile pedo’s. Remember a couple years ago a young lady came out and described how her dad made her available (sold) her to Tom Hanks. You can’t find anything on that story anymore. Like it didn’t happen. Is it a true story? Who knows? Why did Hanks just get granted honorary Greek citizenship? How about that story that Tiffany Fitzpatrick just broke a few days ago? A sickening story about an adolescent boy lured to Hollywood to be in a boy band, and his sorry parents allowed it to happen. I think the pedo story is going to stick and bring some sick, shitheads down!

  9. guaarantee that pip squeek de nero wont forget. He’s been sharpening his knives all day today.

And Hanks, he’s more subtle. He’s probably slipping rat poison in the milk bottles that the milk man left on Rickys front step.

  10. Nope, he was playing a role. Gervais basically said so himself during an interview after the show. He’s still a liberal jerk. The left does know conservatives detest their policies, but even the left understand ratings. The bottom is falling out of airing Hollyweird award shows. Not even the left watched them much anymore. They needed an “edgy” monologue slamming the left to draw attention. Gervais was and still is willing to comply – all about the Benjamins.

  11. Trump’s example of stating truth is Catching Fire around the world. It makes no difference if every word he said was carefully rehearsed and known. That he was actually allowed to do it and was not fired like Hart, is amazing.

  13. From the sourpuss look on Hank’s face, he seemed to take it seriously enough. But Hollywood is for Hollywood. I’m cynical about them roasting their own. It’s sure not family entertainment of any kind.

  14. All the articles I’ve seen from Hollywood’s journalistic fans have been very negative towards the offending journalist(?) and the celebrity’s. Except for Slate but hey, it’s Slate, what can you expect from that 100% liberal rag. And theirs was about 50/50.

  15. Was Gervais ‘politically correct’ or simply correct politically?

Not for any of us, but for some previously uninformed people, he pulled back the curtain a bit, because he said what he said from that podium as he stood over those preening self-important frauds.

Remember all these ‘celebrities’ see psychotherapists regularly, in order to survive.
Maybe those therapists engaged Ricky to do this to keep their practices busy?
