An upstate New York mayor has stirred up controversy with a plan to combat the growing heroin epidemic in his city by opening a facility where addicts can legally shoot up.

This idiot Mayor needs to be SMACKED upside the head with a large 2 by 4. Nothing possibly good can be accomplished by giving junkies heroin and giving them a safe place to shoot poison into their veins. They might as well just locate this dumb idea in an emergency room so the junkies can get emergency medical attention stat when they OD. And I’d be willing to bet that they would probably cover this under obummercare. I almost lost my son to heroin (as well as oxycontin) abuse about 9 years ago. Fortunately, he’s turned his life around so I take dumbass ideas like this personally.
There are no drugs at the bottom without people making money at the top. Has anyone checked into the source of the mayors wealth?

Tell you what mayor. Why not fight to make it easier for people to buy alcohol anywhere and anytime without control and onerous tax of government first.

Actually, most any rifle can do that, if you hit in the right place. But keep up the hype — if it keeps effete Yankees from moving here for the low taxes and friendly climate, it’s a win!
The same thing is happening in Seattle. What a lovely city it was when I moved here in the late 80’s. Now, it’s a lefty cesspool.
Frontline did a two hour show this week on Heroin, the first hour featured Seattle and Bremerton the second hour featured this mayor in Ithaca.

If you don’t deter the heroin user and enforce consequences for their behavior you create little incentive for them to stop shooting up, until they kill themselves.
