…don’t be too sure they won’t. In 897 they dug up months dead Pope Formosus and put him on trial and (unsurprisingly) convicted him of usurping the papacy and cut three fingers from his long-dead hand and threw him in the river, all for political reasons as this allowed his successor, Stephen VI, to vacate his acts.

If I could go back 50 years to when I when I was 19 in 1972 and told my younger self all that would happen in 2022 and now 2023, he wouldn’t believe a single damn word of it. And would probably tell me that I was nuts and to go away and not bother him. And that’s just for the bad stuff, he also wouldn’t believe how much God would bless him over those 50 years.
