American Thinker: The recent Supreme Court Janus vs. AFSCME decision (5-4) prohibits the mandatory collect of agency fees by public sector unions. This is the equivalent of a political earthquake of 9.0 on the Richter scale, and the union movement knows it. They view agency fees as necessary for their survival, and their concern is that without them, public-sector unions could shrivel and take the broader union movement with them.
The Janus decision will cut into public-sector union membership, which can only translate to a significant curtailment of donations to the Democratic Party. It will also cripple many left-wing activist groups who have heretofore relied on union money. Let’s look at some of the ramifications flowing from the Janus decision in a little detail. more here
AFSCME, who I am required to pay dues to did not represent me when they had an obligation to do so and it cost me ~$7K to have my personal attorney recover money I was owed.
At least I had the sense to recognize that if I were to see justice done that I would have to retain a personal attorney to advise me on my case. There were others who did not want to pay for a private attorney and insisted that AFSCME was competent and actually had an interest in representing them…
The only reason AFSCME lifted a finger in my case was that they were under notice that I would have no compunction suing them through the floor if they failed to provide competent representation
I like it. Much union money goes to dems and other leftist causes. Less money=less influence.
One of the major losses for the Union is a significant reduction of paid Union Thugs who intimidate and beat those opposed to their socialist tactics.
This is great…
An idea that should have never been allowed.
Oh my! The Janus decision is “delicious,” indeed! ….smile….

Public sector unions are an abomination. Take a government job and then go on strike against the tax payers…….. WTF!
“Speaking the truth in times of universal deceit is a revolutionary act.” Geo. Orwell
There are a couple dozen leftist billionaires in America who’d be proud to make up the loss. Can’t figure out why they made their fortunes as capitalists then turned into socialists.
The Janus decision is equivalent to castrating the Democrat party (that is if they actually had balls).
This was entirely correct. It is the most unAmerican thing you can do to compel someone to pay for political causes they abhor. I hope all the unions are utterly destroyed since they contribute nothing to the country. They are parasites. They only protect incompetent workers and donate to Democrats.
I’ll bet there is no transaction fees associated with any money collected by any government agency for any union anywhere. Just 2% would be reasonable enough.
