J&J Sunscreens Removed From Stores Over Possible Contamination Of Benzene

NTD: Target Corp said on Friday it has removed Johnson & Johnson’s (J&J) Neutrogena aerosol sunscreen products from its stores and website after the pharmaceutical company said it had detected a cancer-causing chemical in some samples.

Pharmacy chains CVS Health Corp, Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc and retailer Walmart Inc have also pulled J&J’s sunscreen off their shelves.

J&J on Wednesday voluntarily recalled five Neutrogena and Aveeno brand aerosol sunscreens and advised consumers to stop using the products and discard them after internal testing found low levels of benzene in some sprays.

The recall comes two months after online pharmacy Valisure filed a petition with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), saying it had found levels of benzene that were higher than recommended in over a dozen products that provide protection or relief against sunburns, including sprays and lotions. read more

  1. The Florida Keys Pro’s have pretty much said most Sunscreens are harmful to the

Reef (Local Store makes a safer version)

and if it kills the Reef, what’s it doing to Your Skin?

    I tan up pretty good…even though I’m of Irish/Dutch descent…Never wore the

stuff…Except maybe some Zinc oxide on the Nose before I discovered Hats..

  2. Yeah. I never put J&J on my skin. But I do have it injected into my bloodstream for the Chinese Red Death so that I can mingle with the maggotry without a mask.

  3. I turned my skin to leather in burning buildings and finished it off with years of oxyacetyline and TIG welding, so ain’t no sun gonna hurt my arms, anyway…

  4. @LBS – “…Many petroleum products contain benzene. I’d say it’s trumped up bullshit…”

    So you’re saying it’s Trump’s fault. 😁

  5. Benzene is horrible to the skin. It takes away our natural protective barrier and allows chemicals to be absorbed into the body and blood stream. TERRIBLE solvent on its own too. I used to yell at my BF when he’d clean his brushes with that stuff and he’d get it on his hands. Damn!

  6. I could do a much better job of screening those young ladies from the sun than the Neutrogena aerosol. I wouldn’t let one ray of sunshine come between me and that lovely skin.

One at a time though, I’m not wide enough to cover both.
