Joey Chestnut breaks his own record, chows down 76 hot dogs to claim annual contest

WND:

Joey Chestnut celebrated the Spirit of 76 on Sunday.

No, not 1776 when the Founding Fathers declared this raucous nation free to celebrate freedom any way the American people pleased.

As in the 76 hot dogs the legendary champion of hot dog eating contests gobbled down during the Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest on Sunday.

For those of you keeping score at home, that breaks down to 22,800 calories in 10 minutes, according to the folks at TMZ.

“It’s a staple of New York,” said Valerie Gagnon, 45, of Long Island, who attended the event, according to the New York Post. “This is what Fourth of July is –– it’s American, it’s hot dogs.” more here

  1. If gluttony is your claim to fame who am I to judge?
Fortunately I didn’t have to watch it.

I was at a Taffy pull at St Peters.

Or was that a Peter pull at St Taffy’s?

  2. I have spent many years on this planet, (fortunately, and thankfully also), and I have yet to understand the benefit of wolfing down food to the point that you have wolfed down more food than someone else in some pointless race.

It’s obscene, uncalled for and irresponsible, it’s sickening and degrading and reminds me of liberals willing to choke on their own puke in order to remain in control.

I’d rather shoot them and put them out of their misery, or perhaps just to put them out of my misery.

  3. I was at the ‘Big Texan’ steakhouse in Amarillo two weeks ago. We watched a guy devour a 72 ounce steak and the rest of the meal that goes with it in less than an hour. He beat the clock with 45 seconds remaining.

  4. I wanna see Joey Chestnut vs Kamala Chin Nuts in a head to head (😉) contest to see who can down the most wieners. My money is on Willie Brown’s cum dumpster.

  5. I have no reasonable response to this. Sounds like many of the donkey party (and at least a majority of the Repubs would support this. I am not going to jump on the celebration. Just because you can down more dogs than others does not make you a celebrity.
I do accept that you get some congrats for being able to do something that others cannot do. However, who cares? What difference does it make?
