John Thune Elected Senate Republican Leader in Tight Race

Breitbart:
Sen. John Thune will replace Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) as Republican Senate Majority Leader after a close contest Wednesday that took two ballots to resolve.

Thune, McConnell’s top deputy and an establishment favorite, must guide a conference hungry for changes after McConnell’s iron grip. He’s also tasked for guiding President Donald Trump’s agenda through the Senate, advancing his nominees swiftly and moving Trump’s aggressive legislative agenda.

Thune received 23 votes on the first ballot – four short of locking up a victory. Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) received 15, and Sen. Rick Scott 13.

On the second ballot, Thune secured a victory over Cornyn 29 to 24.

Republicans convened Tuesday night for a leadership forum organized by Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) as they grappled with who best to lead them through the Trump administration and beyond. more

  1. I didn’t predict, no I guaranteed right here @iotw on NOV. 6 that the RINO”s would stab us in the back. And here we are one fucking week into the election. Let us pray that the Trump Team had this figured and a contingency plan in the works.

  2. Trump is my POTUS. He stands alone in his commitment, his IQ, his resolve.

With all the corruption I’ve seen in the 45 years I’ve been a voting citizen, I expect nothing from ANY politician, particularly those who make POLITICS their lifelong career.

There are still MANY pols that have been “spared the rod”.

If anyone thought getting an “I voted” sticker is all that was necessary, PAY f’in ATTENTION!!!!!

  3. The one thing about making Rubio SoS is that it frees up his senate seat to allow an actual conservative that supports the Trump agenda to take his place (hopefully another vote to replace Thune as majority leader). And he can be fired from his new position if he doesn’t perform up to expectations.

  4. Those three senate seats that the RNC ALLOWED the democrats to steal will come in play now with a McConnell protege. He’ll have a lot more power than he would have if Brown, Lake, and Rogers were in the Senate next session.

About the best we can hope is that a lot of judgeships will go to reasonably conservative jurists and not communist shitbags. But with Thune and the uniparty GOP senators, they’re gonna screw with Trump’s efforts to shrink the DC bureaucracy as it desperately needs to be.

  5. MJA is spot on. He won’t be there long. Plus there’s some pretty good 411 going around that someone has a lot of dirt on this guy.

    Update:
Tulsi Gabbard as Director of National Intelligence. Another awesome choice.

  6. and we’re trying to give away the House…..
I predict to see the House as…..
    Retardicans…..222
    Demonrats……..213

If we appoint 4 House members to the Cabinet.….
    that gives US…..218…..for months…..
    until special elections are held…..

    Not smart.

  7. Ed357 – not sure that EVERY ONE will require special elections. Some might be able to be appointed by the governor. But indeed, a big concern. The way the democrats rig elections, who knows who will make it into Congress in the end.

  8. ^^^
    Yeah….I originally thought appointed…..
    Someone said special elections…..
Looked it up and special elections…..
    Fox just said special elections…..
with Senate is appointment by Governors…..

Hopefully…..they’re not a stupid as they appear.
