Judge holds Alex Jones in contempt over Sandy Hook lawsuit, imposes $25,000 daily fine

Just The News: A Connecticut judge on Wednesday held Infowars host Alex Jones in contempt of court and imposed a $25,000 fine each weekday until he sits for a deposition in a Sandy Hook school shooting defamation lawsuit.

Jones did not follow court orders to attend a deposition last week, Connecticut Superior Court Judge Barbara Bellis said during a hearing online, Reuters reported.

The plaintiffs rejected a deal Tuesday in which Jones would have paid $120,000 to 13 relatives of the Sandy Hook shooting victims.

The defamation lawsuit was brought forward by family members of victims of the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Conn. The plantiffs are suing Jones for claiming the horrific event that killed 26 people, including 20 children, was a hoax involving crisis actors.

The victim’s families won the lawsuit by default in November after the judge said Jones did not provide evidence for the case. more
