“Empire” actor Jussie Smollett has been charged with disorderly conduct for allegedly filing a false police report, after claiming for weeks he was the victim of a hate crime at the hands of two Donald Trump supporters.
Within hours of the Chicago police officially classifying Smollett as a suspect in their investigation, the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office approved a class 4 felony charge against him, according to Chicago police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi.
CNN reported filing a false report is equivalent to disorderly conduct and is punishable by one to three years, according to the Illinois criminal code.
Prosecutors said a bail hearing is anticipated for 1:30 p.m. CT Thursday. Guglielmi wrote, “Detectives will make contact with his legal team to negotiate a reasonable surrender for his arrest.” read more

Can someone please explain to me why the Media should not be held liable for promoting this Hate Crime Hoax??? The letter Smollett sent himself didn’t garner him enough attention so he took it up a few notches and concocted a PREMEDITATED HATE CRIME framing innocent people with zero regards to any damage caused by his actions.
Smollett should suffer the consequence to the full extent of the law.
