Koch-Financed Company Purchases Time Magazine

Conservative Treehouse: Earlier today Murdoch activated his Decepticon control agent Carly Fiorina to appear on Fox News Sunday, utilize a familiar passive-aggressive technique, and help shape the official Wall Street/K-Street sexism narrative via Chris Wallace. You can watch HERE.

A few hours later the second set of Decepticon billionaires surface; the Koch Brothers, who financed a $1.8 billion deal including the purchase of Time Magazine.

NEW YORK (AP) — Meredith Corp. announced Sunday that it is buying Time Inc. for about $1.8 billion, a deal CEO Stephen Lacy called “a transformative and financially compelling growth opportunity” that joins two giant magazine companies.

Meredith brings with it a magazine portfolio that includes Better Homes & Gardens, Family Circle, allrecipes and Shape, while Time Inc. owns properties including Time, Sports Illustrated, People, Fortune and Entertainment Weekly.

The companies said the deal was unanimously approved by their boards of directors and will close early next year.

You can expect more human interest stories and advertising in People, Sport Ill, Fortune and Time Mag.

It’s funny how no one is asking if the spin off of Time, Inc. will ease the merger of AT&T and Time Warner for regulators.

  2. It would be fun if they turned the magazine into a streetwise middle of the road libertarian (see: Kochs) rag, just to see how john Q Public received it…but, not holding my breath.

  3. WHAT THE HELL WAS I READING?

For a second there, I thought the Koch Brother bought “The Time.”

I haven’t heard “Jungle Love” in like forever, and it’s good they will be bringing a little of the ’80s back.

  4. Consolidation within the slowly dying Print Mag industry.

I’m hoping DoJ vetoes the acquisition on general Antitrust principles.
Too much media in one conglomerate’s hands.

Related topic: I’m still surprised that Zucker and CNN are allowed to continue to openly insult and antagonize PDT even as Corporate planned an important merger.
It’s like they haven’t grasped that he’s actually POTUS.

We’ll see if the Koch Bros care to exert any editorial influence on these new women’s mags. It would be easy to rein in the SJWs. But the Koch’s seem pretty comfortable with a globalist center-Left status quo.
