LA Police Union: Police Commission Wants Cops To Run From Armed Suspects

DailyCaller:

The Los Angeles Police Commission wants LAPD police officers to run away when a suspect confronts them with a weapon, warns the Los Angeles Police Protective League, the labor union of the city’s police officers.

The organization posted a blog post critical of the commission’s recent decision to find that fault lay upon an LAPD officer who used deadly force when a female suspect, Norma Guzman, came at him and his partner swinging a large knife.

“The key facts in this case are not in dispute. A female suspect, armed with an 8 to 9-inch knife, charged at officers, repeatedly ignored commands to stop, and was recorded yelling ‘shoot me’ as she swung her knife from side to side,” the LAPPL Board of Directors wrote in a blog post.

  1. @ Voir-
You have no idea. It’s incredibly discouraging because my vote counts even less here than most places, and it already counts for almost nothing as it is, given the way our government works right now.

  2. Who the hell would want to become a Policeman any more? The media is already against you, as soon as the SHTF, your chain of command is going to turn on you, and the Police Union Officials are using your dues money to get democrats elected.

  3. Well, the logical conclusion – as I see it – is public safety will be left to the public.

Which is where it all started anyway.

There were no police forces in colonial times. We took care of business as it came up. Individually.

Then we got fancy and hired people to do it full time. Trying to relieve ourselves of the burden of dealing with the criminal element. Which only made empty spaces for them to operate in.

Then we lost sight of the fact they (the police) work for us.

That made us-them a reality instead of being an extension of all of us.

As the police get restricted the need for self reliance increases.

I see this coming period as a weeding out of those who refuse to see the reality of the situation and point fingers instead of muzzles. A Darwinian dynamic being in play.

Let’s extrapolate a little and say the police are out of the cruising neighborhoods game. What would stop vigilante patrols from doing a rat job on a neighborhood? Or a fed-up victim taking out the trash on his/her own terms? Maybe the thugs’ cribs catch fire when they sleep and lead pierces the rats as they flee. Stuff happens, ya know.

Shorter version – police step back and unfettered citizens clean house.

An armed society is a polite society.

  4. I hear you Cali. Move to Texas if you can. We are different, some say crazy, some say ‘lucky us’. Most of us despise the Bushes. Cruz is too little too late. He didn’t play well with others, hence his attempt to save our bacon on the internet assignment fiasco was a failure. Every State has plus and minus points. Your’s is a bit off edge to the Left. I think it could be traceable back to Chief Justice Rose Bird and the Supremes of California. Appointed by Moonbeam Brown, that was the tipping point of California’s long slide into the deep abyss.

  5. @ California schemin

Arguably, a conservative vote counts for exactly nothing.

How many things have been voted on by a majority in Kali that some lib judge has thrown out?

Too many. You do not have a Govt of the people there.
