Cops are people who sometimes have to take on thankless dirty jobs, because someone has to take out the trash, but now that they’re coming down with typhus-like illnesses, based on the multiplication of the homeless population and the accompanying rats, one wonders how fair this is — or, more to the point, if maybe leftists making policy wanted it this way.

According to ABC News:

At least one officer with the Los Angeles Police Department has contracted the bacteria that causes typhoid fever, Salmonella typhi, and another one is showing typhus-like symptoms, the police department announced on Thursday.

The officer who had contracted the illness is being treated, and the other officer has yet to be confirmed to be infected, according to the LAPD. Both officers work at the LAPD’s Central Division, according to a statement released by the department.

California’s blue-state Democrats can thank themselves for this one, based on all their laws to “protect” the homeless to be homeless, inadvertently creating conditions for a plague.  The Left doesn’t like cops, of course, nor any enforcement of laws, so the idea of cops coming down with medieval illnesses rather fits into their scheme of things.  Typhus in fact means that some cops won’t enforce the vagrancy laws at all.  Good times for the plague.  read more

  3. Every report of the conditions in Los Angeles reminds me of ‘Elysium’.

    I’ve said it many times, that movie was the future we are headed towards. It always surprised me that Matt Damon was part of it, since it so blatantly illustrated the end game of socialism.

    But then satanic obama told us right from the beginning that we would pay higher costs for energy and jobs would be lost; probably the only time he spoke the truth.

    The commies are deceitfully unapologetic, just listen to the members in the clown car of demoncrat 2020 candidates.

  6. Tent cities, human excrement boiling over the city streets like Hawaiian lava flows, deeply disturbed mumbling miscreants crowding every street corner and used syringes mingled with other garbage in heaps.
    To our disgrace it must be a shock to the senses of any first time visitor to the United States.
    Not only do the leftists go about completely untroubled by these conditions, they busy themselves compounding them.
    How this is ever reversed seems like an impossibility at this point.

  7. We used to deal with Typhoid and such with quarantines of the outbreak areas.

    Maybe a good idea to do the same today.

    BTW, anyone remember Typhoid Mary? It’s possible to carry the disease and transmit it to others without catching it yourself.

    Expect this to spread.

    The cops don’t NEED to work in a cesspool. The state doesn’t NEED to bring in 3rd worlders with 3rd world diseases siphoning the welfare system.

    Mark my words LA, Seattle or SF will be ground zero for the next pandemic. It will spread fast due to the airports who allow the homeless to sleep in the terminals that’s open to the public. I couldn’t believe it when I saw them sleeping in the baggage pickup at LAX. The smell was horrific! They’re allowed in there because “it’s a public space.” All it takes is 1 passenger to board the plane infected and within 48 hours it has spread worldwide.

    How would a global pandemic happen?

  15. What about the fruits and vegetables from the clean part of CA that are cargoed around the country via the diseased cities?
    Contamination by handling, storage, transit, water?
