Reporter’s Notebook: Las Vegas Sheriff Joe Lombardo is being mocked and shamed on Twitter after posting a video asking people to support his re-election.
In the tweet, Lombardo says, “I’ve worked hard to keep our neighborhoods safe, I’m proud to be your sheriff and I hope to have earned your vote.”
A quick look at Lombardo’s social media over the past year reveals he has spent more time campaigning on claims of keeping Las Vegas safe than informing the public about what happened October 1, 2017, the night of the Las Vegas shooting, when 58 people were gunned down from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Resort in what is now the worst mass shooting in US history.
Lombardo’s handling of the Las Vegas shooting has made him a figure of national suspicion and a laughing stock within the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, sources say. MORE
