Jesus preached the “sharing” part of socialism. However, leftists typically ignore the “receiving” portion of His message – if you could work and provide for yourself, you were commanded to do so. Paying taxes so that the government will take care of the poor is not the same as doing it directly yourself. It does not benefit the giver or the receiver in the same way. And if it’s not freely given — if it’s pay your taxes or go to jail — it’s really not given at all, it’s simply taken.
