Longshoremen Pause Strike Until January 15

Breitbart- The dockworkers’ strike that could have severely hurt the American economy and the supply chain weeks before an election has been paused until January 15, diverting what could have been a political catastrophe for Vice President Kamala Harris.

“The union that represents tens of thousands of East Coast dockworkers and the shipping industry reached a tentative agreement on wages and are extending an expired contract through Jan. 15, 2025,” announced Politico on Thursday.

The union said on Facebook that “effective immediately, all current job actions will cease and all work covered by the Master Contract will resume.” more

  1. On the plus side (there really is no plus side) but if Trump takes office on Jan 20, he can legitimately call it another inherited disaster from the single worst administration in American history.

  2. You don’t suppose that Gov. DeSantis’ sending the National Guard and State Guard to Florida ports to maintain order and, where possible, continue operations had anything to do with this, do you? 🙄

  3. @It’s all bullshit:

If we can be held hostage by a union on this scale this is a national security issue and must be dealt with accordingly.

Wake up, my friend. The real national security failure was allowing the sale of most US ports to the Chinese, Saudis, and various Emirates. That ship has sailed. Note that the strike wasn’t against US port operators, but rather against foreign operators less than friendly to the US.

  4. @Uncle Al

To expand a little on the relevancy of your comment, playing a little chess here, could Trump have had a conversation with the BA’s of the locals and told them that if elected he would start movement toward “nationalizing’ our vital ports, a point of great contention with the union. Get them to hold off until after the election and if the “crazies” prevail, drop a no bargain strike on them 5 days before insertion. That would be an awesome inaugural gift for the Ho and her organ monkey. Let them invoke Taft/Hartley, then sit back and watch the fireworks

  5. My Union story. During WWII, before the battle of Midway. The Navy sent a couple of ships to Midway with critical supplies, knowing the Japanese were close. Instead of offloading the supplies, the Longshore men decided this was a good time to strike. They had been on the ships for this purpose. After a moments thought, and to allow the Union men to realize the error of their ways, the Marines handled the problem. Unions preformed similar activities throughout the war.

  6. The longshoreman’s union boss has ties to organized crime and the mafia, so what else is new. He has also been implicated in the killing of a mafia capo. Organized crime and unions have long been in collusion with one another so why is anyone surprised.
