  1. I got hit on my Harley last December, nearly died, 8 Broken ribs left side, Collapsed left lung, lacerated spleen, removed, cracked scapula, that an x-ray tech turned into a shattered and displaced, scapula. 3 surgeries and 7 months of recovering and I am doing ok.

  2. I sold my Harley years ago because of lunatics driving like this. I always felt secure in my own riding, but came to realize it won’t be me who will run a red light or stop sign, but some asshole like this.

  3. …every time we went to a motorcycle accident call, it was always variable as to how far from the motorcycle we would find the rider, in which direction, and in how many pieces, with bonus points for determining if they had a passenger and whether they followed a matching trajectory.

But one thing that was pretty common was if there was still enough left of the guy to be sentient, a guy that had abruptly parted company with his rice burner would spend the ride to the hospital vociferously damning it to its component parts, while the first thing a Harley rider would say as you busted for the hospital as another unit stayed behind to feverishly search for the rest of his leg was inevitably “Is my bike OK?” (it wasnt) and an expressed desire that we leave HIM and transport his BIKE instead.

…generally speaking, MC T/C patients were peaceful tho. Sometimes so peaceful they would ride with the coroner instead, and not to the hospital…

  4. …I had a Basic Trauma Life Support class early on at the state fire school, and one thing that REALLY stuck out to me was that it kept repeating in the “Traffic Accidents” section, whether discussing assessment, packaging, transporting, monitoring, in every phase of care that a motorcyclist should be regarded as a “High Speed Pedestrian” and treated accordingly.

In the years after, I found that to be a very accurate descripton…

  5. I do watch police chases from time to time because of the titles and the endings.

I look for the parts that are supposed to be interesting and have pretty good luck in finding them quickly. But most chases are just boring.

Seems like the only thing interesting in this was the play-by-play conversation.

And maybe I skipped over it, but I never saw CHP involved unless it was the helicopter view itself.

Glad to hear that youโ€™re doing OK Michael. Thatโ€™s a lot of damage for one body to take. I had my left ankle smashed, not broken, and the fibula broke right at where it attached to the ankle, and my upper thigh on the other leg bruised pretty severely, when I got ran over on my motorcycle and it crippled me for a solid three months, but I wasnโ€™t able to walk for very long until about a year later.

The effect on my overall health is still felt today and it was nine years ago

I pray that you recover fully and get your Life back to as normal as possible. I winced reading what happened to you. You have my sympathies.

  6. @Dadof4, I had a lot of pain for 5-6 months, My primary care Phis, says I shouldnt have survived. Shoulder is uncomfortable, one of my ribs is growing back overlapping itself by an inch, but overall, when shoulder is bothering me its only a 3-4 level pain, I have most of my movement back. Glad to be alive. Amazingly My legs weren’t hut badly at all. Hope that you have more healing . Thanks
