Los Angeles Sees Historic Decline in Entertainment Jobs

The entertainment and film industry is losing serious ground in Hollywood as jobs are lost and production is scaled back even as the industry has seen growth elsewhere.

Hollywood has long been the entertainment capital of the U.S. — if not the world — as film, music, and TV converged on the area starting in the 1920s. But a new survey of jobs in the Los Angeles area shows that industry jobs have fallen to a low of 22 percent of the nation’s entertainment jobs, Business Insider reports. more

  1. I read an article a few hours ago about Newsom and Bass collaborating to offer Hollywood double the tax credits if they stay put. If I were big tech I would say,”WTF, my company gets taxed up the whazoo and you give them tax credits? Where is my tax credit for remaining in this shithole state?”

    There is an old saying that you can sheer a sheep many times but you can only skin him once, Newsom is banking on a shared ideology in order to keep lib filmmakers from fleeing to low-tax states. But normal folks think their product is shit and cost-cutting will be their only hope.

  2. No, No, No. Why would these, for profit studios, pay a shit load of money to dysfunctional people when they can generate movies free of charge in AI? This has been coming for awhile. And it’s here now. Fuck these assholes.
