Luxury yacht tips and sinks minutes after launch as terrified passengers jump overboard

The 85-foot Dolce Vento had just been delivered from Istanbul before sinking in Zonguldak port.

FOX:

Dramatic video shows a brand-new luxury yacht sinking just minutes after it was launched off the coast of Turkey, forcing its crew to leap overboard.

According to reports, the new $1 million vessel, an 85-foot cruiser named Dolce Vento, was launched Tuesday in the Ereğli district of Zonguldak, a port city on Turkey’s Black Sea.

The amateur video shows the boat being pushed into the ocean down a track on the beach and then swaying within 15 minutes of setting off. more

  1. That looked sooooo top-heavy the moment it was launched.
A comment elsewhere was that they launch into calm water without the ballast tanks filled, then fill them. But they also mentioned that there is so much demand for the multiple levels that they are making top-heavy boats. I would be curious as to whether there are copies of this same boat that are doing fine, or whether it is a massive design failure.

  2. Poland isn’t as backward as you think!
They honor and remember their heroes, and ours, too.
They have statues to Ronaldus Magnus in several places.
Please rethink your attitude about Poland and her people.

  4. Forgive me for making a joke about the Polish. The Poles are probably the sanest of all eastern European people and predominantly Catholic as well. And the Poles are very fierce fighters when they need to be surrounded by Russia to the east and Germany to the west. And muzzies to the south who they have never let immigrate into Poland like so many other European countries to their death and destruction.

  5. @General Malaise, almost correct, I have green eyes!
    @geoff, all’s well!
My trip of a lifetime to Poland really opened my eyes, and heart, to these people and their history. I am proud to be Polish, when I used to make jokes about being a dumb blonde & Polish too. I can’t do that any more because they have suffered and endured more than I can imagine!
Sounds as though you know the strength and character of the Polish people.

  6. Agatha thank you so much for that! my Dad was a Polish Soldier/engineer on the Apollo program. I worked at a Holiday Inn owned by Henry Landwirth. He baked a cake for those astronauts in Cocoa Beach. They adopted him. I was young and waited tables there, when I served them I always mentioned my Papa and they always said to thank him. Made me so proud of being Polish!

  7. I am an old school Anglo Saxon of both Scots/Irish/British and German heritage and Protestant religion. My dad’s family emigrated from Germany in the 1840’s and my mom’s side of the family was from England and were some of the first colonists in New England in the 1730’s fleeing from religious oppression in England. My wife’s family were all English Catholics who escaped England fleeing religious oppression and emigrated to Maryland before the American revolution and were some of the first settlers in Kentucky along with Daniel Boone in the late 1700’s. And it’s probably ironic that my oldest daughter married a Kentucky native and is now living in Padukah, Ky. raising their family of 2 girls in my son in laws hometown.

  8. If I said 1730’s I need to correct that to the early 1630’s. Roger Williams, the founder of Rhode Island is in my mom’s side of the family tree. I was raised as a Presbyterian when I was growing up and I could not be a Presbyterian now because of their turning away from God’s covenant and becoming totally secular and worthless like so many other Protestant denominations.

  9. @geoff
Mom is 100% Polish. Her people emigrated to America right before 1900. She just turned 89.
Dad was Scots-Irish. His mom’s family was here before 1800. His dad’s family emigrated here in late 1800s.
I love this country & love hearing family histories.
    Thanks for the cool info!
    Have a blessed day!
