‘Make sure your vote is on target’: Man who stopped Texas church shooter is running for office

WaEx: The man who fired back and saved the lives of his fellow churchgoers in Texas is running for office with the campaign slogan: “Make sure your vote is on target.”

Jack Wilson, 71, shot and killed a gunman who opened fire in West Freeway Church of Christ in Tarrant County, near Fort Worth, Texas. Wilson was on duty as the volunteer security officer at the time of the shooting. He drew his weapon and killed the assailant within seconds.

Wilson’s aim wasn’t surprising, given his background. He was president of On Target Firearms Training Academy until 2016, worked as a deputy sheriff, and is currently running to be a county commissioner for the third precinct.

In a post to his campaign page, Wilson addressed the church shooting and requested prayers for the victims and their families.

“I just want to thank all who have sent their prayers and comments on the events of today. The events at West Freeway Church of Christ put me in a position that I would hope no one would have to be in, but evil exist and I had to take out an active shooter in church,” Wilson wrote.

  1. Some things never change, this would have been the same response from 100 years ago in the same setting, God bless MEN who keep their faith and honor to protect the innocent from evil in their hearts doers, may their souls never see mercy.

  2. let’s guess his party affiliation, shall we?

    he carried a weapon

wasn’t afraid to use weapon to defend the defenseless

he was worshipping in a church

I bet he’s at least a republican or votes for them anyway

  3. Easiest, most effective law to replace all gun-related laws: If you use a gun to commit a crime (protection of self and others NOT a crime), there is an instant life in prison, no parole, judgment. People protecting themselves and others are allowed to shoot anyone committing a crime. Hopefully their aim is true.

  4. Training, training, training…

Normally it’s double tap center mass then one to the head if they’re still moving or presenting any residual threat. Thinking he went with the idea that the sweatshirt was hiding body armor, cause that’s not the shot you’ll take first.

My hat’s off to him for being able to pull it off.
