On Friday, Queens State Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani gave a bizarre speech alleging that there was rampant Islamophobia in New York City and among the other mayoral contenders. He claimed that his “aunt” stopped riding the subway after the Islamic extremist terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 because she was afraid in her hijab. Mamdani, a member of the Democratic Socialists of America, has gained the support of prominent Democrats like Hakeem Jeffries and Kathy Hochul.
Questions arose over the weekend as to which aunt this could be referring to. He only has one aunt, technically, his father’s sister. That sister, Masuma Mamdani, both was not living in New York City at the time of the attacks of in the few years after, and is not pictured in professional photographs wearing a hijab. more

I am Canadian so do not have any skin in this game, but I am hoping that he is elected and tanks NYC. I live in western Canada and this happened in Alberta years ago when they foolishly elected the NDP (very socialist) and the party proceeded to ruin the economy. Thankfully, Albertans woke up and elected Danielle Smith who will probably take them out of Canada within 5 years.
