Manchin: Biden administration is ‘kneecapping’ the hydrogen market

WaEx: Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) on Friday blasted the Treasury Department‘s new tax credit system for hydrogen production, saying it will “kneecap” the fledgling market with undue restrictions.

“This administration cannot keep itself from violating the Inflation Reduction Act in their relentless pursuit of their radical climate agenda,” Manchin said. “Make no mistake, obstructing hydrogen development in our country is the shortsighted goal of the far-left advocacy groups who lobbied the administration for these restrictions because they oppose all energy sources other than solar and wind.”

The hydrogen tax credit “45V,” which was created by the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act, incorporates several proposed requirements suggested by environmentalists seeking to use subsidies to spur renewable energy production.

The proposed guidance determines the tax credit based on the amount of carbon emissions emitted through the hydrogen production process. The credit for hydrogen production ranges from between 60 cents and $3 per kilogram of hydrogen, while the highest tax credits are limited to wind, solar, and other renewables built within the first three years of operation for a hydrogen facility. more here

  1. It always comes back to Carbon doesn’t it? I read an article a couple days ago on how living Christmas Trees were much better for the environment than the artificial ones. The article stated that it takes 10 years of using your artificial Christmas tree to offset the carbon created in manufacturing the fake ones. It went onto say another big benefit of living Christmas Trees is that while they’re growing the turn CO2 into oxygen. Hah, someone remembered Photosynthesis. However if you do a Google search on Photosynthesis you’ll find they’ve replaced CO2 with the term light energy. I’m sure in an effort to support Bill Gates efforts to chop down all the trees. Wada freaken moron.
Carbon content in our environment is .04% and has never changed.

  2. Nobody could possibly imagine how many transportation and energy alternatives we might have today, each working best where the conditions are optimum, in the absence of ALL government regulations, manipulations, subsidies, targeted attacks, etc. Government is the greatest evil ever created by man.

  3. “If men were angels we wouldn’t need government.”
    (dead white dude)

Sadly, government attracts iniquitous bastards who’d rather steal than work for a living.
The point of a Republic was for the people to keep the evil bastards out of government, but once we upped “representation” from 1:75,000 to 1:750,000 and passed both the 16th and 17th Amendments we opened the floodgates to corruption.

That being stated, Hydrogen is the most abundant element in the Universe – every other atom is an accretion of Hydrogen (He is two Hydrogens, Lithium is three Hydrogens, Beryllium four, Boron five, &c. – but everybody knows this).

  4. Biden is a traitor. He’s also being influenced – if not blackmailed – by another traitor, Obama. Except nothing but treason from the piece of shit, and act accordingly. NOW.

  5. Hydrogen is not a fuel; it’s a battery. You need to burn another fuel to make it, with associated waste due to entropy. Hydrogen is the smallest gad molecule, so is the hardest to store. All pressure vessels leak, and they leak hydrogen the fastest. It is doubly inefficient.

  6. Manchin should have thought about all this before he got
Bamboozled into voting for this wrongly named bill

Glad he got screwed by his party after he voted for the SAA. Screw American Act
