Sen. Joe Manchin told reporters Tuesday he’s not working with the White House to find a path forward on Build Back Better, once a top Democratic priority that now appears hopelessly stalled thanks to Manchin’s opposition.
“There’s no negotiations going on at this time,” the West Virginia Democrat told reporters gathered near his Senate office Tuesday afternoon.
Manchin announced last month he would not vote for the $2.4 trillion social welfare and green energy bill, arguing it was too costly and was packed with provisions that would hurt the economy and weaken the workforce. more
Who knows.
He seems authentic but he is a politician at the end of the day.
Who trusts Manchin? He’s probably angling for something else. He’s still a Democrat.
If they can’t bribe you, they have a pillow as a parting gift for you.

I don’t trust politicians as a whole, but this guy is gaining on 95% of the repuglicans.
“There’s no negotiations going on at this time,”
“They have nothing to extort me with at this time” being a more believable interpretation.
And what is the case for a politician today can change drastically tomorrow, depending on the incentive.
