CFP: Countries are finding that offshore wind is not only expensive, but noisy too. Brazil, the world’s eighth largest producer of wind power, has erected wind turbines off its Atlantic coast where the wind blows consistently and the noise is constant.
Recently, officials in Massachusetts and Rhode Island announced contracts for two large offshore wind farms off Martha’s Vineyard. Massachusetts is planning to build an 800-megawatt wind farm with over 100 turbines about 15 miles south of the Vineyard. And Rhode Island officials plan to build a 400-megawatt wind farm northwest of the Vineyard Wind project that is planned by Massachusetts. The wind developers are rushing the projects to benefit from a federal tax credit for offshore wind projects before it expires in 2020. As with other offshore wind projects, fishermen are wary of the detrimental impacts that the wind turbines, the associated subsurface cables and the subsequent noise will have on their livelihood. read more
Wind and solar should be the last resort, makes no sense now.
If it will work above the water it should work below.
Use the tides, and the rotors will turn slower allowing the denizens time to escape

Totally unnecessary waste of money. Build nuclear power plants. If the French can make it work, why can’t Americans?
This was never nothing but a big give away to general electric. It’s a very expensive farce with a long list of negative effects and none positive. Part of the global warming garbage that bleeds taxpayers of trillions and no admission of its ineffectiveness.
A few months ago, I read that offshore installations of bat-chomping bird-slicing eco-crucifixes (James Delingpole’s wonderfully accurate term) are way more expensive to maintain, and wear out way faster than those on land. These costs are, of course, not mentioned by the renewable energy ecofascists, and, again of course, passed on to tax- and rate-payers and not borne by the corporate owners / shareholders.
In a just world, those rent-seeking bastards building these damned things would be forced to live in tiny rooms inside the generator nacelles.
How many migrating species of birds will die from these things??

Being against the Martha’s Vineyard wind farm was the only thing Ted Kennedy ever got right. Of course it was simply self serving as he didn’t want it in his backyard.
Just replace the blades with Bussard collectors.

What’s the cost?
What’s the Break-Even point?
What portion are the taxpayers on the hook for?
Will the taxpayers get their money back – ever?
What do the taxpayers get when the Turbines fail, the birds are murdered, and the scam generates nothing?
When the companies declare bankruptcy, will the principals and the politicians who enriched them at taxpayer expense, be prosecuted? Imprisoned? Executed?
