‘Matt Drudge Logs Off’ – IOTW Report

‘Matt Drudge Logs Off’

The Drudge Report has become a conformist shadow of its formerly bratty, oppositional self. Why?

“Gone,” she said. Not gone in the sense of dead, she quickly clarified. “Gone” in the sense of finished with his old life: “I think he was a little surprised he made it as far as he did, and that he was as quote ‘important’ to the general press scene as he was … He had a cool operation. He didn’t have to work very hard, went swimming once a day in the ocean, and he liked going to parties. And he liked his hat.”

A good break-down of Drudge here at Tablet Mag.

  1. Yup, he made his money by being a nonconformist. Now that he is well known and (probably) has a boatload of cash from adverts, he can toe the monoparty line. I am glad that I switched to Whatfinger and others

  2. He’s on the wrong side.
The Clintons will never forgive him for his Monica scoop. He has nowhere to run and no one to protect him.

Spend all your dough now, Matt; you won’t be taking it with you when the Clintonistas come for you.

  3. Drudge has proven a curiosity to me. Wildly successful, providing a service a hungry audience devoured, he has become unencumbered with financial concerns. Much like Bezos with Whole Foods or Dorsey with Twitter (both guys got fabulously rich by other means) you would think Drudge would now feel free enough to supercharge his site as a foil to the monolithic detritus produced by the MSM.

His veer towards mediocrity and conformity now reveals that he was always an opportunist, not a real convert.

  4. Haven’t used his site in years. Don’t care what caused the change in his aggregating/reporting. It’s a very basic principle of supply and demand. If you change your product, then you can expect to change your customer base accordingly. Who or whatever was the cause of that change is not significant to me, only the end-product is.

  5. He was a great man while he was an honest man.

    Now he’s just an embarrassment.

Great legacy there, Matt. Your next headline should be: “Money can’t buy everything, but it certainly can’t buy character and reputation”.

  6. How the mighty falls. It’s just not Drudge who was FORCED to go bye, bye, but the media is following right after Drudge. We took down Faux news in one day and they kept falling. At least Drudge didn’t hire a publicity firm to show him where he went wrong. Once you lose your base in any business, you will never redeem yourself. I deleted Drudge from my bookmarks years ago.
