Dan Bongino: On Thursday, following a personal debate on race with Democrat Congressman Cedric Richmond, Matt Gaetz revealed that he took in a boy who emigrated from Cuba after his mother died at age 12. Gaetz considers the boy, Nestor, now 19, as his son.
Naturally, because Gaetz is a strong ally of President Trump, people derided Gaetz, saying how Nestor is being used as a prop to cover for his conservative immigration stances or how Gaetz has been “hiding” Nestor this whole time.
But an unlikely source defended Gaetz: former leftist Democrat Congresswoman Katie Hill. more
Good for Katie. Anyone from the left defending someone on the right is a huge win. I am willing to admit when a Democrat does something that I consider good, but I usually see it going the other direction.
Katie – Thank you.
Empathy. For those who were wondering about the definition of this word that has been tossed around a lot lately, this is it.
The boy’s mother had no business having a child at twelve.
Katie trying to rehab her reputation a little.
Still a commie dog.
Sorry. This whole thing is funky. I am deeply bummed because Gaetz, son of wealthy politicos, generally strongly supports Trump (except when he inexplicably doesn’t — e.g. against investigating Epstein and human trafficking, against letting Trump have his military defense powers, defending and being great friends with Ms. Katie Throuple, etc.)
The boy is the younger brother of a woman that Gaetz… dated? An adult, presumably? Who was living with him? Really? Or his housekeeper (where are any pictures of Gaetz with a girlfriend at the many, many, many functions he’s attended)? Why didn’t she take custody. Or, for that matter, the boy’s father, who lives in Miami. And who is that woman who has a FB page in which she claims to be Nestor’s mother?
And… no legal adoption, which Cuba doesn’t permit for Americans. So… how did this 12-year-old boy get here from Cuba? Apparently no legal guardianship either. Or DCF foster papers?
Do you know many 30ish young men who suddenly become committed to “adopting” teenage boys, with whom there is no prior relationship, with the kid or his parents?
How did Gaetz get this kid into the Florida Senate in the coveted position of a “page” when he didn’t speak English? How did Gaetz enroll the kid in school?
There is lots more, none of which makes sense except for one hypothesis. Smells. Sorry.
And P.S. I know that we need every last Republican we can get. But we don’t need someone who can be blackmailed.
His mother died at 12?
It’s hard not to second guess the thinking behind this story. Did I say behind? I mean thinking of this story.
janitor – Wellllll now. I didn’t know alladat!
He defends Trump pretty well 90% of the time, but you’re right, if his background has background, that could get weird.
Could be worse. Could be a dead ringer for a Mexican Arnold Schwarzenegger
