Matt Gaetz Withdraws Name from Consideration for Attorney General Nomination

Breitbart– Former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) formally withdrew his name for consideration for the Attorney General position in President-elect Donald Trump’s incoming administration, asserting Thursday there is “no time to waste on a needlessly protracted Washington scuffle.”

“I had excellent meetings with Senators yesterday,” Gaetz said in post in X. “I appreciate their thoughtful feedback – and the incredible support of so many.”

Gaez went on to say his nomination has become too much of a distraction, and therefore, he is withdrawing his name from consideration for the highly sought position.

“While the momentum was strong, it is clear that my confirmation was unfairly becoming a distraction to the critical work of the Trump/Vance Transition. There is no time to waste on a needlessly protracted Washington scuffle, thus I’ll be withdrawing my name from consideration to serve as Attorney General,” he announced.

“Trump’s DOJ must be in place and ready on Day 1,” he said, adding that he remains “fully committed to see that Donald J. Trump is the most successful President in history.”

“I will forever be honored that President Trump nominated me to lead the Department of Justice and I’m certain he will Save America,” he added. MORE

  1. Looks like Matt had a thing for $1000.00 a night hookers. I still don’t care. At least he wasn’t gay. Ironically Collins and Murkowski both voted to approve Lavine. Those two traitors should switch parties and make it official.

  2. This really ticked me off at Susan Collins and her fellow RINOs.
DC Draino suggested that Gaetz made a deal to be appointed to Rubio’s Senate seat.
That would be awesome and put a burr under the RINO butts.

  3. AnonTrooper, X is exploding with people saying the same thing. His selection was to show all the senators who were going to betray the will of the people.

Also, many suggested that Ron DeSantis appoint him to replace Rubio in the Senate.

  4. Judge Andrew Napolitano. If there is someone else currently feasting on the bodies of criminal government politicians, he would be fine too. Jjust appoint someone who will go after these folks like a pit bull on steroids.

  5. The left is being blindsided by President Trump. Gaetz and Hegseth are RINO bait.
Hopefully, President will eventually select individuals for these particular cabinet positions who are close to squeaky clean, strategic and highly qualified Constitutional conservatives to clean up these very significant Executive Branch auxiliary departments.
Then, corral these corrupt RINOs and “persuaded” them to vote for his cabinet choices…or else, because he has the receipts.

  6. President Trump’s “bait and switch” strategy may already be in effect and working – Ms. Bondi might make the cut for Attorney General. She’s got the experience as Florida AG for almost a decade. Hope she’s a solid conservative.
