McConnell Could Find A Key Ally In Doug Jones

DAILY CALLER: Democratic Alabama Senator-elect Doug Jones could end up being a key ally for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Republican leadership when he takes office.

Jones said Sunday that people should not consider him someone who is going to vote along the party lines on every issue. This would be a beneficial for GOP leadership that is desperate for bipartisan support.

“I’m going to talk to people on both sides of the aisle and try to figure out what I think is in the best interest of my state and the country,” Jones told CNN’s Jake Tapper Sunday. The senator-elect also plans to leave “all the options on the table” and people shouldnot “expect me to vote solidly for Republicans or Democrats,” he said.

Senate Democrats have remained united in opposition to any major legislation their Republican colleagues have put forth in 2017. Whether it was the campaign to repeal Obamacare or the recently passed tax reform bill, Senate Democrats have given a firm thumbs down to the Republican legislative agenda.  MORE HERE

  1. He hadn’t entered the indoctrination chamber of the democrats yet. Just wait, he’ll get in line, although I’m not certain McConnell’s agenda is too far right of the democrats.

  2. This quote to Jake Tapper was exactly his ad word for word that he ran here for what seems like forever. Again, this is a man who would not identify himself anywhere as a demonrat and I do not believe for one moment that he will cross the aisle.

  3. Considering that McConnell sides with the Dems most of the time, exactly what good will that do us?

Remembered the RINO’s saying “All we need is the House then we can do something?” Then they got the house and didn’t do anything.

Then they said “All we need is the Senate along with the House then we can do something.” And they got the Senate along with the House and they didn’t do anything.

Then they said “All we need is the White House along with the House and the Senate then we can do something.” The now have the White House, the House, and the Senate, and still little is being done.

I just wish McConnell and the other RINO’s would just go away.

  4. Jones is a Democrat politician — meaning he’s opportunistic. Of course he may be an ally of the Republicans. He only won a 2-year term. In 2020 Democrats won’t be able to flood Alabama with the kind of money and fraud they did last week because they’ll have to flood all fifty states with money and fraud. So if he wants any chance of getting elected to a full 6-year term, he has to cater to Alabamians. Then, if he gets reelected, he’ll let his far-Left freak flag fly. What will they do? They’ll be stuck with him for six years.

  5. McCONnell handed the election to Doug Jones on a silver platter, like he handed funding to Obama for Obamacare.

McCONnell got what he wanted, a liberal democrat Senator.
They have more in common with McCONnell than GOP conservatives.

    Betrayal is McCONnell’s middle name.

  6. I think Jones realizes that at the end of the day, if he wants to stay a senator from Alabama, he’s gonna have to act like a Senator from Alabama. BTW, did you hear that little scumbag Franken is welching on his resignation? Not much of a surprise there. He only had to intend to be resigning until Roy Moore lost. Now, the democrats don’t care if he exposes them as massive hypocrites.
