Iowa Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley is set to become the Senate pro tempore, putting him third in line in presidential succession.
Grassley will be elected to the position by the Senate on Jan. 3, 2019, as he is now the longest-serving Republican member of the Senate. Grassley has served in the U.S. Senate for 38 years. The current pro tempore is Utah Sen. Orrin Hatch, who announced in January 2018 he was retiring, after serving four decades in the Senate. MORE
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell was reelected to lead the Senate GOP by a voice vote Wednesday in a closed-door meeting, as no one reportedly voted against him or challenged him for the position. MORE
McConnell, eh? Well, he has been more of a Republican lately than Paul Ryan.
Let’s see how long that lasts.
Grassley is great anywhere.
The results of this election, nation wide, should be nullified and the election rescheduled. After the guilty (Florida, Arizona) are arrested and jailed, hold the election again, legally, with observers who are politically neutral and can stop the whole thing cold if they see cheating like we are seeing right now. I hate these slime bag Democrats.
It would be nice to think the old turtle had turned over a new leaf, but I seriously doubt it.
McConnell is a snake, manipulator and a fence sitter. He positions himself to give the best possible image to the public while cutting throats behind the scenes.
Nancy Pelosi would be President before he would if she retains Speaker of the House. What a scary thought that is.
