The St. Louis Rams have filled their 10-player practice squad, and it does not include defensive end Michael Sam.
Sam, who is trying to become the NFL’s first openly gay player, was among the final players the Rams cut on Saturday as the team set its 53-man roster. The Rams kept nine defensive linemen, including five defensive ends.
Sam, a seventh-round pick from Missouri, was likely the 10th – and the sixth defensive end, behind starters Chris Long and Robert Quinn, reserves Eugene Sims and Williams Hayes, and rookie Ethan Westbrooks.

See if they’ll take him on the cheer squad. lol
They should have never taken that guy in the first place, and they know it. I don’t care who he’s banging, he has no talent.
I want to say something like, “Hope he did some studying while at Missouri, ’cause it looks like he’s gonna need to fall back on it to find work.”
But maybe not. They’re hiring big, black, “gay” studs in San Francisco (and in San Antonio now, I hear).
Gosh. If the Rams wanted publicity, then are they ever gonna get it now.
His best bet is to cruise around lower Manhattan or San Fran. I’m sure someone will pick him up.
I guess he blew his chance. I’m sure he’ll have more opportunities to blow.
I sure he will end up be a “packer” in the near future.
Maybe San Francisco has some club football teams…
maybe he’s just a little too light in the cleats. throws off his game.
Maybe San Francisco has some club football teams…
They do but they are looking for a tight end.
He may be coming to your town so I’d defend my end if I were you.
Sam played a lot during the pre-season and actually played well. Not a star by any means, but definitely a good depth player. ESPN’s horribly unprofessional reporting recently about the shower stuff in the locker room couldnt have helped matters (maybe it was posted here, cant remember). Teams are aware that media is the problem in all this, especially giant ESPN.
Sam, SEC defensive player of the year, is good enough as a project on some team’s practice squad for now, but most teams just dont want to deal with the media right now.
Not to worry, he’ll be available for autographs at the Mapplethorpe show…
So now the flits are going prance into the Rams stadium, screeching and throwing blood everywhere, like they do in cathedrals? I can hardly wait for game day.
It became just too hard to handle
Being a negro homosexual isn’t enough?
What a world … what a world!!!!
See, the real problem here is this: His position is defensive end, and he is no good at that position!
The team thought they’d score some points with the public when they drafted him. But I have no doubt that it created havoc with the players.
Ironic that his Rams Jersey will spend the rest of its life in the closet.
He had his shot, played as best he could but in the end wasn’t good enough for professional football. Just the same as hundreds of players each season. Maybe he can pick up with another team but if not I hope he has the class to walk away without resorting to straight-bashing.
@ davy- Great joke. I’m surprised I haven’t seen it before; seems like a natural. Madison, WI, is full of “packers.”
@Boobie – One of my favorite clips as it was on Broadcast TV opposite the Super Bowl half-time show in 1992. It was a real hoot then just as it is now some 22 years later!

He didn’t make it when they found he wasn’t a tight end, but rather a wide receiver.
Send him to the Dallas Cowboys…they already suck and can always suck some more……..
Guess his ball-handling skills need work…
