Michigan judge denies effort to keep Trump off 2024 ballot

NBC: A Michigan judge on Tuesday dismissed an effort to keep former President Donald Trump off the state’s ballot in 2024.

The judge said that under Michigan law, the secretary of state does not have the authority to intervene in a primary election if the party chooses to list a candidate who would not qualify for the office.

“The ultimate decision is made by the respective political party, with the consent of the listed candidate,” the judge wrote.

The decision comes after a group of Michigan voters in September filed a legal challenge to Trump’s candidacy, arguing that his efforts to overturn the 2020 election results and his and conduct surrounding the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot violated Section 3 of the 14th Amendment to the Constitution, making him ineligible for office. more

  1. The plan is to deny him. My understanding is that eighteen states have laws that will keep him off the ballot if he has a felony conviction. Some judge can make that happen with the wave of a hand.

  2. Thank you, Judge! With those three witches running this state, I’m more inclined to head somewhere else…along with the thousands that are fleeing already.

So far, my county has remained fairly normal for now. We have a wonderful County Sheriff who tells us that he won’t support any “law” ordered by the state if it’s against the US Constitution. He’s kept his job in spite of many attempt to get rid of him. So far.

Anyway, if they succeeded in keeping Trump off the primary ballot, I know many people who would be writing him in. Of course, they would throw them away, but I won’t vote for any of the other candidates.
