VOE: Over the last five years, violence among students in primary and secondary schools has more than doubled, Swedish news outlet Samhällsnytt reports.
A reverse in the trend is not in sight. On the contrary, violent incidents continue to increase. The violence varies from smashed up classrooms to robbery, stabbings and murder, and it is carried out by students against other students and teachers.
The Swedish Work Environment Authority refuses to confirm that there’s an increase in violence, and suggests that perhaps it is the willingness to report violent incidents that has increased instead.
So far this year, they have received 544 reports on serious incidents of violence. What the typical criminal profile behind these crimes looks like in regard to gender, age and descent is nothing that the authority wants to reveal, though. more here
