Military Surplus – IOTW Report

Military Surplus

Now that Obama is intent on exiting Afghanistan and shrinking the military back down to pre-WWII levels, the nation has a few vehicles it won’t be needing anymore.

See what it plans on doing with these babies  here

The Salinas Police Department made its new armored rescue vehicle available for public viewing on Tuesday in front of City Hall. Police said the ARV, acquired and customized at very low cost to the city, will provide protection and rescue capabilities to officers and civilians in high-risk situations.

  1. Noooooo! I want one! I’ve been saying since early 2000s that I want one!

Maybe if I go to Obama and tell him I’m a ‘smidgen’ Native American and I deserve one because the white man is keeping me down, he will give me one. Right? Right?

    Pout…

  2. Before any municipality can request one of these carbon foot monsters, the EPA will require them to commit to plant a minimum of 89,000 trees or purchase 5600 Chevy volts.

  3. Just how much military “shrinkage” will there be when civilian law enforcement groups are fully militarized? This started well before Barky came into power, but his particular focus has been on converting military power outside U.S. borders to military power inside U.S. borders.

  4. A lot of people in the big cities who will be manning these machines came from publick school education. I give it 5 years before they learn enough to operate one without running each other over or locking themselves inside. We can take these assholes.

  5. Oh and I’m glad to see the military fighting over seas has plenty of equipment to fight and defend with that we can just hand over shit willy nilly to any body. Right?

  6. Attack the weak points and disable. The occupants have to come out eventually.

Four people with paint ball guns or balloons filled with paint could blind one of those things pretty quick. Then let the people with the bottles of gas go to it.

On a more serious note anyone know what the per wheel and/or axle load is on one of those things? Are our residential roads built to handle such loads? Who gets to pay for the damage one of these things causes to the roadway? Rhetorical question of course.

  7. I feel much better knowing that you guys have figured out how to neutralize these things. If only the manufacturer knew they wasted all that R and D money. LOL.

  8. @Bad Brad – Those things are not battle tanks. They do have weaknesses. Fire resistance is quite short-duration, and those inside do need to see outside to maneuver.

(Battle tanks have weaknesses, too, but they are fewer and harder to exploit. Think: big camouflaged hole in the ground.)

  9. In the 6 day war, Israeli volunteer infantry taught some lessons about what death traps tanks could become for the Arabs ‘safely’ sealed inside.

  10. @Bad Brad – I’m an old guy with poorly functioning back, hips, and knees. I won’t be leading the charge, but I most definitely WILL be doing SIGINT and/or jamming enemy comms, or at least loading magazines and filling Molotov cocktails.

  11. Well I guess if you found one of these things on the side of the road abandoned, given enough time you could get the job done. However, god forbid,if we ever find ourselves in this scenario there’s probably going to be a bunch of swat ass holes that forgot they we’re Americans shooting at you with weapons that have the evil third position on the selector switch. If they really have their shit together they’ll have a couple guys parked in high places with 308’s providing sniper cover. I just don’t see it as being this easy guys. In fact the worst thing you can do is underestimate what might be coming. Because of my job, I shoot at least 2 times a week. I’m damn good. But I don’t think I’m near good enough to face something that involves a swat team and an mrap. Besides, that battle would require quite the team effort and some strategy. I’m not digging the strategy I’m hearing right now.

  12. The learning curve would be steep – and expensive – in both lives and materiel. But most of those soon-to-be out of work Armed Forces guys may decide to join the Americans and bring their expertise with them. That, and Americans ARE an innovative, quick learning bunch of bastards and socialists are, relatively speaking, lazy asswipes who would rather be smoking dope and fucking each other in the face, than fighting.

As usual, the problem is getting from HERE to THERE, expecting someone, or God, to save us from our own collective stupid choices and omissions.

We are sovereign, ONLY if WE demand and retrieve our sovereignty. If some ‘leader’ rises to wrest our sovereignty from Obama and the socialists, the sovereignty will be HIS, not OURS.

How many patriots are you willing to kill to get the guns?
How many people on your side are you willing to see die to get the guns?

Perhaps you need to consider those two points before you try to usurp our natural rights.

You can’t have the guns, you can’t have a registration of the guns, and if you think the law enforcement officers are willing to die to go after the guns, you need to do some google-fu, and look into the reality of that situation.

High time you totalitarians had some skin in the game. If you want our modern sporting rifles with standard capacity magazines, and if you want our long-arms registered, you’ll have to come do it yourselves.

After all… the Cops and the Sheriff’s deputies all live amongst us. As has been so aptly illustrated in Mexico… 2:30 am no-knock raids cut both ways. The law enforcement officers won’t lift a finger to enforce this nonsense outside of hellpits like NYC and SF. They love their kids and their wives, and like to not come home to burning cinders where their home used to be.

So man up. You want the weapons, come and get them – this time there won’t be any soldiers and cops dying for you.

You’ll have to do it yourselves.

    Good luck.

Don’t mistake “tactical restraint” and “battle-space preparation” for “cowardice” or an unwillingness to act, “friend.”

We the people just finished buying 4.8 million firearms in less than 60 days, a six year stockpile of standard capacity magazines, and over 3 billion cartridges.

Do you think we bought them to register them and/or turn them in?

    This is not panic buying.

This is a people preparing for war.

You need to understand a thing or two about logistics son. Sherman didn’t march through the south on a moment’s notice. A campaign takes a good amount of time and resources – but thanks to the overreaches of statists and wannabe-tyrants, the time-table just got put into overdrive.

Takes 3% of the gun owners in this nation to topple it. The federal government does not stand a chance.

    How do I know this?

Go dig five holes 4 foot deep in your backyard. I’ll be startled if you don’t damage some kinda utility line in the process. You pick a fight with the freedom lovers in America, and you had better get used to not having electricity, internet, natural gas, running water, and working toilets.

    The infrastructure is utterly indefensible.

The patriots in America don’t need to beat the army. They don’t need to beat the Federal goon-squads. They don’t even need to the local law enforcement.

All they need to do it shut off the lights on a dilapidated, over-extended, and so vulnerable as to be indefensible power/water/gas grid, and the “free-sh*t-army” will take care of the rest.

The guns are for what comes afterwards. The coming revolution will be fought with shovels, pick-axes, bolt cutters, and bags of cement. The “arms” dealer will be Home Depot. You’ll learn one way or another this society continues and exists peaceably only with our consent. The second we withdraw that, it will, with a considerable amount of assistance, fall into ruin.

  14. @Bad Brad – If they start with me, I’m a dead man for sure. But if they start somewhere else when they do come for me I won’t be there. The last thing I’d do is fight them on their terms and turf.

Kindly note that I know their names and where they live.

  15. Uncle Al. “Kindly note that I know their names and where they live.”

If that’s the case, distribute them NOW. Because after it happens, it’ll be to late.
