Minneapolis Residents Agreed Not to Call the Cops, Then the Rapes Began

Sultan Knish: Last month, the New York Times brought its readers the heartwarming story of the Powderhorn neighborhood in Minneapolis whose residents had decided not to call the police.

“If you are a comfortable white person asking to dismantle the police I invite you to reflect: are you willing to stick with it?” Minneapolis City Council President Lisa Bender had demanded. “Will you be calling in three months to ask about garage break-ins? Are you willing to dismantle white supremacy in all systems, including a new system?”

Powderhorn residents had taken that message to heart and refused to call the police.

A few days later, a “juvenile” girl was assaulted. The Associated Press reported that, “the people who took the victim to the hospital did not call police.”

By July, the encampment had grown to 800 people and 3 sexual assaults.

Minneapolis Park Board clears one of the Powderhorn homeless encampments

About 20 people were arrested as one of two sites in Powderhorn Park was shut down. 

Police and heavy equipment cleared out what was left of the east homeless encampment at Minneapolis’ Powderhorn Park, forcing campers to pack up and find a new place to live.

Park Board Superintendent Al Bangoura issued an eviction notice to the encampment Friday, just days after the board voted to cut down on the number of tent camps in local parks. The notice gave campers 72 hours to leave, parks spokeswoman Dawn Sommers said.

All but two to three campers had left the encampment Monday, with the holdouts refusing to leave, Sommers said. A couple dozen people showed up as the site was being cleared and about 20 people were arrested, she said. more

  4. This decision to not call police comes from the homeowners of the neighborhood not s crowd of college radicalized teens. Presumably the homeowners are well established and invested in their community. That’s why I find this so troubling, you’d think seasoned people wouldn’t be so reckless with this decision.

  14. gin blossom- Yep it’s the homeowners. Been following the story for 3 weeks now. One old man got robbed several times and had the car keys ripped from his hands and still didn’t call the cops right away. And then when the cops came he told them he should have never called them because what if the boys who robbed him get killed by, you guessed it, the police. lol.
    The entire neighborhood is nuts. Even after they saw a young boy raped beside a tent, the felt guilty for calling the cops.
    Liberalism. Mental disorder.

  15. Be of good cheer “campers”. Lisa Bender’s house is open to all, and should the urge arise to shoot dope, rape or rob your fellow campers, she promises to not call the cops….if you’re black.

  18. …I’m a quarter century separated in time from my squad service and 700 miles separated in space from Minneapolis so maybe things have changed, but in MY day if a juvenile rape patient was transported to the hospital, everyone on the run – cops, FFs, EMTs, Paras, Responders, EVERYONE had MANDITORY reporting requirements with CRIMINAL penalties if not reported, and the HOSPITAL-doctors, nurses, stripers, the lot – ALSO had a duty to report.

    And if the PARENTS did NOT report the rape, the child would be swiftly, and SURELY, taken from them AT THE HOSPITAL, and require a COURT ORDER to get her back.

    And not without REASON.

    …one of my very first proby runs I made with a (thankfully) VERY experienced ambulance crew was for a juvenile female in seizures on a sidewalk at a particular address. We got there and, sure enough, a little 14 YO girl was doing St. Vitus’ dance horizontally across the lawn. I pop out all eagar and crap, holding an o2 bag, reviewing my fresh seizure training and mentally picking out the popsicle stick I’d use once she stopped thrashing, when the older guys got there (I was QUICK when I was fresh, but not always USEFUL about it). Well, after giving me a sort-of contemptuous and DEFINITELY “Shut UP!” look, the Director of Fire and Life Safety took the bag from my eager ass (think Sponge Bob, but WAY skinnier) and selected a “popper”. Just…a simple ammonia capsule, appropriate mostly for psychogenic shock, or fainting from “the vapors”, which this clearly was NOT.

    …puzzled but shut-up, I watched as he broke the capsule under her nose.

    And she stopped seizing. Immediately.

    I then recalled something about how you could spot fakes this way, and then expected him to tell her to go her way. Instead, being shot ANOTHER “Keep You Place” commanding look, I was told to get the cot forthwith, which I did without argument, but a thousand unvoiced questions. Well, we packaged her and put her in the back of the unit, and it started to dawn on me that SOMETHING was askew, like despite the large crowd, no hysterical parent emerged to demand to know what the hell we were doing with their li’l punkin.

    Well, the Director started to discuss the situation with the young lady, while I waa told to prep a cannula on the on-board O2 system, with just a litre. This seemed odd to me too, this was just a homeopathic dose, wouldn’t really do much of ANYTHING.

    Odd.

    …well, turns out he was playing a hunch that her problem was not “medical”, per se, but situational. He used the ammonia as a completely harmless way to reveal the seizue ruse as a person not seizing that didn’t live with them would think it was medically significant and play the part of the “cured”, which she DID, but he saw somehow that there was more to the story so he separated her from the crowd, did something vaugely medical with the oxygen to signal she was being taken seriously and being cared for, then started gently questioning her.

    And found that her dad tried to rape her, she escaped, and then being a confused child not wanting punishment from her pursuing rapist but not wanting to be recaptured, feigned a very noisy, very PUBLIC seizure in front of the WHOLE NEIGHBORHOOD.

    “Dad” melted away. He didn’t want no part of it.

    Mom wasn’t home.

    Well, having found the REAL problem we set off for the kiddie hospital and sent out LEOs down the backtrail to start asking questions. The hospital was told, out came the rape kit, everyone concerned had to write a book about it, and Dads satisfyingly was sent to be raped himself.

    The system worked.

    Then.

    But ONLY because the pieces worked, and were TRAINED to do so.

    Nowadays, don’t know WHAT would happen. Would the HOSPITAL care? Would LEO be ALLOWED to respond? Would the Squad even ASK?

    I honestly do not know.

    In just a few decades, really in just the last few years, the Democrats have destroyed, on purpose, nearly ALL our institutions.

    I just don’t know if ANY of it is left intact.

    …there were some other things done about child rape in the day too, that I hope are still done today, but since my memories are as bad as the Statutes of Limitations are long, I can’t really say more about what I so hazily recall…

    …Child rapist are rabid dogs. You can’t fix them, you can only put them down.

    …if the “parents” are COMPLICIT in this, even out of some warped “social justice demands I allow my White children to be raped by Black men because I feelz bad for being White”, then they deserve the same fate.

Those people don’t know what civil society needs to be civil society because the very idea civilization has been destroyed by the idea ‘multi-culturalism.’

  20. I feel very bad for the girl who was assaulted. She was abandoned by the “ejumacation” system and the adults in her life who did not look out for her physical safety and most likely have also contributed to the psychosis that will have her blame everyone except the perpetrator & the justice system that allows recidivism.

    breaks my heart but you know that they will continue to vote democrat.
