More students accepted to college despite declining readiness in math, reading

BPR– More students were accepted into four-year colleges in 2024 compared to 2019 despite 12th grade students testing lower for college readiness.

The National Assessment of Educational Progress’ (NAEP) 2024 Nation’s Report Card shows the lowest literacy rate among high school seniors since the current version of the assessment was first administered in 2005. Despite students testing lower on college readiness assessments, a higher percentage were accepted into four-year colleges in 2024 compared to 2019.

Only 33% of high school seniors in 2024 were considered “academically ready” for entry-level college math compared to 37% in 2019, according to NAEP. Just 35% of students graduating high school were prepared for entry-level college reading in 2024 compared to 37% in 2019.

Despite this, 53% of 12th grade students reported acceptances to four-year colleges, a two percentage-point increase from 2019. However, a lower percentage of students were accepted into two-year colleges, with 22% reporting acceptance in 2024 compared to 24% in 2019.

Another 7% were accepted into technical training programs, a slight increase from the 6% in 2019. MORE

  1. …actually, I need to correct myself.

The college administrators, being Democrats, also care about the division of this Country, the addition of Communism, and the subtraction of anything that can challenge the rule of their lord satan over it like masculinity, White people, etc.

And they do enjoy the decimation of Christianity for the same reason.

They care about THAT math as well…

  2. My son who is 43 never went to college but learned a trade as a fiber optics technician and thru OJT over the past 15 years or so has worked himself up to being part owner and managing supervisor of a fiber optics company in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. He is an extremely hard worker and knows instinctively how everything works. He is old school like his grandfather my dad who mentored him on how to work with his hands and enjoys the heck out of his work. And I guarantee that he makes far more money than most college graduates do except for doctors and lawyers and other professionals. He is proud blue collar and wears it on his sleeves and is more conservative than I am. He’d make Mike Rowe proud of his work ethics. He will probably end up becoming a millionaire for all of his hard work and won’t show it off except for his Chevy trucks and guns and love of hunting both for ducks and big game hunting. He and his business partner are trying to get a bear now that bear season is open in Idaho. I am very proud of him, he didn’t need a college degree, just hard work and good luck.

  3. The worst and most concerning aspect is that they have not just been passed through, they have been given high marks for being easily led to spew the progressive/Marxist/Satanist bullshit and are expected to implement it in the professions that are critical to public health and safety. As a licensed PE (Professional Engineer) the number who had no ability to articulate on the theory was climbing with each newly hired employee. Then they simply did not have any compunction signing onto whatever the elected and appointed officials wanted implemented. It was all cookie cutter designs shoehorned into conditions they simply were not applicable for. On top of that it was roundabouts where roundabouts would not fit and modified with features that made them into a nightmare to negotiate and were unsafe. Bridges are designed that just are not to standard and aging bridges are not maintained properly. Features on bridges that are purely aesthetic have priority and trump sound engineering principles.

The medical profession is a fucking joke. My GP retired in his late 80s and was appalled. What I have now is still most interested in vax pushing and is totally invested in getting every patient on as many lifelong prescriptions as possible.

It’s that way in every profession. You have Chiefs of Police that are not fit to guard a two hole outhouse implementing a war on the productive and kissing the ass of every malicious, maladjusted malcontent and malevolent prick they can locate.

My God, I could go on for months going through the littany of what they are doing to by design increase innocent human suffering, misery and death while enriching the “Big Guys.”

It is an absolute disgrace what the progressive movement, i.e. Satan’s Army has been allowed to accomplish.

Please, DO NOT fail to recognize and appreciate the roll that the Republican establishment has played in this. They are wolves in sheep’s clothing. They are the scum of the earth and to give them a pass is suicide. They have no problem lying to your face then dry shaving you and will do so every time without fail. The rotten fuckers actually get off on it.

  4. Asses in the classes – that is all that matters to the colleges and universities across this great land.

Will the asses pay the exorbitant tuition? Great! Will the asses accumulate loans that they can’t repay? We don’t care, we have their money. Will the asses find a job to support themselves and/or provide satisfaction. That’s their problem.

  5. Higher education is only following what K-12 education has given the students … brainwashing DEI and no real education. They have been passed on to the next grade with no knowledge of any true education.

College will just continue spewing uneducated students while collecting $$$$$$$$ in tuition.

  6. I wonder about these “higher education” outfits
Maine is #27 lowest in the country for education and yet 59 students, some from the wokest towns, have been chosen for the National Merit semifinals.
