Epoch Times:
Fifty-four percent of respondents to a nationwide survey don’t think trading a boost in the federal minimum wage to $15 by 2025 is worth the potential loss of as many as 3.7 million jobs that currently pay less than that.
Another 26 percent aren’t sure if the tradeoff would be a good one, while 20 percent of the respondents support the idea, according to the results of the survey conducted by Rasmussen.com for the Job Creators Network (JCN), a non-profit advocacy group founded by Home Depot co-founder Bernie Marcus.
The survey interviewed 1,091 individuals July 15 and 16 and the results are subject to a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percent.
The survey results were made public a day before the House of Representatives is expected to take up the “Raise the Wage Act of 2019,” which increases the federal minimum hourly wage to $15 by 2025.
The measure would also index future increases to inflation to ensure the wage maintains current buying power, and would do away with the sub-minimum wage paid many workers who received tips in addition to paychecks. more here
If the turd faces running the government can set a minimum wage they can also set a maximum wage or set any wages for that matter! Socialism running amok!
No one ever seems to bother to ask “So what do we do with all the people?”.
Not everyone is suited to become a brain surgeon or rocket scientist, ya’ know.
Henry’s Tavern a very popular bar and eating establishment in Pioneer Square just across the street from T Mobile Park where the Seattle Mariners play baseball is being forced to close down because of the $15 minimum wage.
Minimum wage laws also prevent single parents from being able to hire some household help. They also prevent teens from being able to be employed just as Cash for Clunkers a decade ago meant a lot of kids couldn’t buy a cheap car.
TRUE minimum wage is, and always will be, $0/hour.
The worst part is unknowable. Starting a business is hard enough but facing these high labor costs will deter any but the wealthy from even trying.
