MSNBC’s Barnicle: I Don’t Know How We Can Make Cable News ‘Relevant Again’

Breitbart-

MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” senior contributor Mike Barnicle said Tuesday that he doesn’t know how political commentators on cable news can make themselves “relevant again.”

Co-host Mika Brzezinski said, “New research shows one in five adults regularly get their news from influencers on social media. The number is even higher among younger Americans with almost 40% under the age of 30 getting their news from those sources. According to the Pew Research Center the social media site X remains the most widely accessed platform followed by Instagram and YouTube.” more

Yeah, the problem is that MSNBC viewers (and 90% of all Democrats) don’t want integrity, objectivity, or even “fair and balanced” in their news feeds, they want confirmation bias, they want an echo chamber that essentially tells them ,”our guys are great and their guys are demonic and evil”.

Chris Licht, fired CEO of CNN, found this out the hard way. He knew nobody believed their reporters because of obvious bias and tried a new tac, their on-air talent squawked and the viewers (all 16 of them) revolted.

This is one of those rare instances where a complete rebuild is required; new hosts, new approach, and a public commitment to get back to real journalism…………but it won’t work, the divide is too great.

  2. You might start by ditching the term “cable news”, Mike. It makes you sound like Biden talking about record players. Nobody under the age of fifty says “press” anymore, either. Get with it, man.

Although I know this won’t help with your core problem, which is, as pie said, a lack of integrity.

  3. “Build a better mousetrap” is still a valid business principle. How do the mainstsream news media get viewers back? Report on the news as objectively and throughly as you can. Practice civility. Explore both sides of an issue. This is building the better mousetrap.

Sure, in the short term you are going to lose some zealot viewers. You’re going to offend some of the talent. But if the goal is to build a larger viewer base, you need to appeal to the majority of Americans who just want news.

  4. Her numbers ( 1 in 5 adults…) mean 20%. Hey Mika, that leaves the other 80% you could compete for. But MSNBC & your coworkers aren’t honest enough to garner that. Maddow often said ” the MAJORITY of the public don’t want Trump to run “, yet he resoundly won the Popular & Electoral. YOU are out of touch of the mainstream.

  5. This is like when your car has so many problems the mechanic says
I need to put a 5-ton jack under the radiator cap and put a new rig under it.
In other words ditch everything, start over and change your name.

Well, you COULD try telling the truth more often and stop insulting people who don’t vote like you. Try that for a while, and see what happens…

  7. FIRE EVERY LAST ONE OF THESE FAILURES and close these “businesses” down!

Once you’ve been revealed as liars (and traitors), there is no comeback possible.
Go to hell, do not pass “restart”, go directly to hell.
You obliterated any possible trust in you.
