‘My dad was better than John Kerry’

By Steve Feinstein

Former Mass. senator and 2004 Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry is an accurate precursor for today’s 2020 Democratic presidential hopefuls.  Unbearably self-absorbed and phony, Kerry’s military career was rife with controversy, surrounded by justifiable doubt regarding the legitimacy of his having been awarded three Purple Heart medals.  Kerry should have sloughed off the very idea of accepting those Purple Hearts for injuries no worse than a shaving cut, but he didn’t.  Kerry simply used his military service as a box to be checked off, to fulfill a requirement for his future political ambitions.

Like Kerry, today’s Democratic Party does not care about the good of the country as a whole, nor does any current Democratic presidential contender care about the military or understand much about its role.  The Democrats are simply interested in winning elections and attaining power, not in furthering the best interest of the country.  They look at the country as a big collection of special interest groups, to be singled out as victims whose salvation shall be delivered for “free” by a Democratic-sponsored government program.

It’s quite a contrast to the way the Greatest Generation served their country.  Very few, if any, soldiers serving in combat in WWII publicly identified themselves as Democrats or Republicans, as liberals or conservatives.  They were simply Americans, united by a common goal, loyal to the country and to each other.

So it was with my dad.  He served in the 338th Field Artillery Battalion in Italy.  My dad was an F.O. (forward observer).  The F.O.s would go to the front lines and find a suitable hiding place.  There, they’d use their binoculars to observe how and where their cannon fire was landing, and they’d radio corrective instructions back to the battery. read more

  1. Better than Kerry? Who wasn’t, Corporal Klinger maybe? Pretty low standards there sport. About the only military man John Effin Kerry ever looked up to was Lee Harvey Oswald.

  2. In middle school and junior high one of my friends fathers was a WW2 vet. When we would ask him about his war experiences his stories usually revolved around the men in his squad (he was a Sargent.) He was always bragging about this guy or that guys exploits and seldom about himself. When I became older it was then I began to realize he left the real stories out as he probably didn’t want to glorify war to us kids. Found out many years later talking to his widow he spent many horror filled nights reliving many of his experiences in his head. He always hid that from us kids.

  3. A lot of baby boomers whose dads were WW2 vets and in between WW2 and Korea like my dad USAF 1947-1950 were far better than John effin Kerry will ever hope to be. My dad was a Sgt. in Berlin at the time of the Berlin Airlift. Can the chickenshit Kerry say the same, no one even knows if Kerry ever got an honorable discharge because of his traitorous actions with the Paris Peace Talks in the early 70’s as a Reserve Navy Officer. Show us your DD-214 discharge papers and maybe we might have the slightest smidge of respect for you, you POS bastard.

  4. My uncle was a Marine and fought in both fronts during WWII – first in Europe and then in the Pacific. He was stabbed with a Japanese bayonet while storming an island. It almost paralyzed him, but he recovered and struggled with back pain his entire life. He received a purple heart and truly deserved it. He never bragged about his time in battle. True hero’s don’t.
    RIP Uncle Scotty

  5. both grandfathers & 4 uncles served in WWII. my uncle ‘Beech’ landed at Omaha Beach & was wounded on the drive to Berlin. he was hit by shrapnel from a tank that exploded while he was marching by. he was blown into a hedgerow & they didn’t find him for almost a week. he had one of the most frightful scars I’ve ever seen, from his right shoulder all the way down across his abdomen to his hip. his left leg was severely burned also. he would never talk about his time in the war. neither did any of my other uncles or grandads.

great, great ordinary men … today’s citizens pale in comparison

…I knew a guy who father was a Combat Controller (CCT) in Vietnam. His speciality sounds just as unpopular there as FO was, and for the same reasons. I just knew what he said from a brief acquaintance from when I rented a U-Haul van from him and asked about the plaques and shadowboxes he had around, but he was justifiably proud of how his father served, and I gleaned that he basically went in alone into enemy territory, and called in strikes basically on his position, while actually coordinating them so the planes didn’t conflict with each other, all the while not, you know, getting caught, tortured, and killed.

…now, compare that to John “I gots owwie” Kerry or John “Songbird” McCain, and I guess we can see who the REAL heroes are, and who just rode on the shoulders of giants, and maybe got some brothers shot down even, and STILL parlayed it into a Gummint career where they just committed further treasons while using a uniform OTHERS made honorable for no more than to deflect justifiable criticim…

  7. I’ve got a festering chancre on a hemorrhoid that’s better than Jawn Frikkin’ Karry. It really pisses me off that I have to admit I was in the same branch of service as him. His first Division CPO failed; he didn’t raise that patrician Ensign right. The only thing I’ve got to say for myself is that I was working on America’s side during my service.

IMNSHO, Jawn Frikkin’ Karry wouldn’t make a pimple on an Infantry Private’s ass.

  8. My dead was a FO in WW2. He fought at Normandy from D+6, wounded twice but stayed in the field. He was later wounded in October 1944 inear Aachen. He came back and ended the war on the Elbe as a Burgermeister of a village..

He never talked much about the war until later in life. I went to a reunion of the 30th ID with him. The stories I heard from other veterans really gave me a true appreciation of the sacrifice made by so many. The attrition in the infantry companies/battalions my dad worked with was hard to imagine. A few companies had 800% turnover in 11 months.

Kerry isn’t fit to shine their boots:

  9. Kerry and McCain were/are both traitors. Together they had the Congressional power to stop the Viet Nam MIA/POW families and committee from getting answers and returns of these men. Therefore the ones left behind were ultimately imprisoned until they have probably died. Kerry should be held accountable for this.

  10. K Ration Lurch Kerry is am insult to anyone who ever wore a uniform. Sadly none of the people under his command were ever given the change to give him the fragging he deserves.

  11. My dad was not an easy man to live with, but he proudly served our country in WW2. He rarely spoke of the war, and I hate to admit that I wasn’t interested. Most kids aren’t, because we were shielded from it. Anyway, the only story I remember him telling us was that he and a buddy were walking along (no idea where) and they came across a boot. One of them wondered aloud if there were a foot in it. There was.

  12. Dad never talked about his war, stationed in North Africa.
A tidbit of information passed to me I didn’t understand until years later.
Dad was religious, never cussed or disparaged his fellow man and expected that from me as well.
He liked to cut firewood with a two man crosscut saw.
I once asked why we didn’t use the chainsaw.
    “Can’t talk over a chainsaw.”
While cutting wood, told me to never trust a Muslim, now I know why.
His seriousness and tone made me remember it.
Glad he died before 9/11, it would have devastated him.
