Nancy Pelosi Shuts Down Nadler’s Request to Flee DC over Coronavirus: ‘We’re the Captains of This Ship’

Breitbart: House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-NY) on Tuesday said Democrats should flee Washington, D.C. as coronavirus continues to spread across the United States — A suggestion which was immediately shut down by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), according to a report.

Nadler made the remark in a closed-door caucus meeting on the deadly illness.

“We are the captains of the ship. We are the last to leave,” Pelosi responded, echoing a comment by Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-NJ) moments earlier, The Hill reports.

Concerns about a possible coronavirus outbreak in the Capitol have grown as several lawmakers have self-quarantined after coming into contact with infected individuals. more

  1. She shows she has more guts than Nadler. That’s not saying much, of course.

Nadler enhances his reputation as a sniveling chicken gutted liberal, while Pelosi just did the least thing to keep herself on a slightly higher level of humankind than Nadler.

  2. I don’t really care why they don’t meet, but I always feel a lot safer when they don’t. Sure, go ahead and leave. No need to hurry back. 2021 or 2022 would be fine.

  3. @Jimmy,

I think you may be referring to the establishment of the income tax and the IRS in 1913. Either that or the Fed Reserve.

I have been reading how the income tax was pushed through Congress by the Liquor Prohibitionists, who needed to suggest another source of income that would take the place of liquor taxes, which would (and did) go away after prohibition was signed into law.

The obvious question is why we still have the income tax long after prohibition was repealed and legal liquor selling resumed.

I think the answer is that once government discovers a new source of revenue, it is loath to give it up. For decades after the Spanish-American war, financed by taxes on phones and phone services, we still had the taxes. A sharp eyed citizen saw this odd repeating tax charge on his phone bill and started asking questions. This was fairly recent, in the 1990s. We were still paying taxes ostensibly to pay for the Spanish-American war.

Government taxation power is the devil.

    Though I’m feeling mighty sick

I’ve been lost now, days uncounted
And it’s months since I’ve seen home
Can you hear me, can you hear me
    Or am I all alone

  5. Waddler has already left town I bet. He’s in upstate NY subsisting on Cohen’s leftover fried chicken.
When a virus reared it’s ugly head, Jerry bravely turned his tail and fled.
