– Associated Press – WASHINGTON — The Navy has fired the commander of the 10 American sailors who wandered into Iranian territorial waters in the Persian Gulf and were captured and held by Iran for about 15 hours.
A Navy official says the Navy lost confidence in Commander Eric Rasch, who was the executive officer of the squadron that included the 10 sailors at the time of the Iran incident. He was responsible for the training and readiness of the 400-plus sailors in the unit.
The official says Rasch failed to provide effective leadership, leading to a lack of oversight, complacency and failure to maintain standards in the unit. Rasch has been relieved of his command duties and reassigned.
The official was not authorized to discuss the details publicly so spoke on condition of anonymity.
I see that the military still uses Scapegoats for brushing problems under the rug.
Too bad our commander in chief and sec.of state are never held accountable for anything anymore.
…. failed to provide effective leadership, leading to a lack of oversight, complacency and failure to maintain standards….
That sounds like the current occupier of the White House. And that is if you believe he is incompetent, and not actually complicit in the marxist/islamist attempt to destroy western civilization.
The XO of the Squadron?
What about the CO of the Squadron?
I don’t know nautical shit, but this smells fishy …
I remember (vaguely) a case about a Captain WHO WASN’T EVEN ON BOARD SHIP when it ran aground, and was court-martialed for dereliction (or some such bullshit) even though his XO was in command at the time. Happened near Norfolk, if memory serves.
Maybe the CO is a fag or a hen and, hence, untouchable?
I still believe this was a spook op – a la Pueblo.
izlamo delenda est …
The CiC should be fired
Sounds like he would not agree to remain quiet, so this is the beginning of retaliation against a possible whistleblower.
Step by step; Preteaeus, Menendez, etc., ‘reeducate’. Mean while convicted national security leaker Pvt. Chelsea Manning remains a pampered, prisoner, even to the point of possible sex change operation paid for by taxpayers.
Same story over and over again by this dictatorship. Denigrate our military and whistleblowers; reward and protect the suppressed or cooperative minions.
You forgot Bo Bergdahl who needs the Pvt. Eddie Slovik treatment (execution by firing squad) for desertion in time of war.
Oh, were they sailors. They acted more like millennial age college students!
