Nevada: Las Vegas Cops Refuse to Endorse Sheriff Lombardo for Re-Election

DANGEROUS: An official vote conducted among rank and file officers within the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department determined that disgraced Clark County Sheriff Joseph Lombardo will not be endorsed for re-election by the Las Vegas Police Association.

The vote to not endorse Lombardo was overwhelming, with nearly 82% of LVMPD officers rejecting Lombardo for another term as Sheriff.

On March 20 an email was sent out by the Las Vegas Police Protective Association asking LVMPD officers to vote on whether or not the association would endorse Lombardo, or one of the four other candidates running for Sheriff. The letter, which was sent out to 2,808 officers, was completely ignored by 1,769 members who chose to not open the email, with only 775 members actually casting a vote.

However, in order for the LVPPA to give an official endorsement, it is required that 51% of police members cast a vote. According to numbers provided by LVPPA in the email, only 27% of the rank and file officers casted a vote, which suggests that majority of the rank and file officers in Las Vegas do not particularly like Sheriff Lombardo.

In fact, out of the 775 votes that were cast, Lombardo only received 526, which is 68% of all casted votes.  more here

  1. Open the door
I was surprised how many people I know that had never heard of that. It came up in conversation around Christmas. Most people I spoke with had no clue what I was talking about. I was shocked, and saddened at the same time.
