New border wall construction begins in California

NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) – The installation of 11 new miles of border wall began on Thursday in Calexico, California.

The project includes the construction of 30-foot tall steel bollards and what the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency says are technology improvements.

The new border wall system replaces what officials called “dilapidated and outdated” designs.

The construction start for this project was announced earlier this month, along with the new border wall project in Tecate, California.

Construction for both of these projects, which total approximately 15 miles, is anticipated to continue into 2020 and are funded under a 2018 appropriation separate from President Trump’s National Emergency Declaration. read more here

  1. I disagree with bollard type walls. A 30 ft bollard takes nothing more than a 60 ft rope to get over. Tie a loop on one end, toss it over the wall, lower it down the other side, reach thru to grab the loop, pass the other end of the rope thru the loop, pull it tight, climb the rope, once at the top, toss the rope over to the other side and climb down. I agree it’s a deterrent, but it could be so much better if someone can’t easily reach thru it.

  2. Thinking the wall will be finished by the election…then the Dem’s will try to discredit Trump by saying there is no more border crisis because of the wall that’s already there.

  3. For fucks sake why didn’t they go with the wall design the East German commies used to keep their citizens IN? Just reverse it to face the other way and keep OUT the Mexicans, central Americans, south Americans, middle Easters and Ebola-ridden Africans?

The Berlin Wall was 20 feet tall and had a curved top, with the curve on the commie side so that a thrown grappel hook wouldn’t take hold. It would slip back.

  4. I have always thought sniper towers would be a cheaper solution. Built on a semi trailer, with housing for troops. The tower raises up to 70 – 80 feet, equipped with motion detection. The mobile platform could be placed were needed. Troops rotate every week or 2.

I also remember a solution from the Taliban days. Hire a bunch of rednecks. All they need to know is: Seasons open, tastes like chicken.
