New Governor Newsom Recall Campaign Started in California

California has had successful recalls in recent years, with 4 elected officials being recalled in California since 2018

On Wednesday, Secretary of State Alex Padilla granted retired Yolo County Deputy Sheriff Orrin Heatlie permission to begin another recall campaign against Governor Gavin Newsom.

The third recall attempt in less than two years

Heatlie’s campaign, Recall California Governor Gavin Newsom 2020, will need to gather a little under 1.5 million valid California voter signatures by November 7th to trigger a recall election in 2021. This will be the third attempt against Governor Newsom since he was sworn into office in January 2019. The two previous attempts expired earlier this year with the highest garnering petition only getting around 352,000 signatures, despite prominent national and international attention.

While the reasons for previous petitions ranged from mismanagement to healthcare to tax increases to allowing sanctuary cities to operate,  supporters this time around have focused on the Governor’s response to the coronavirus crisis and the subsequent economic downturn. Former Chairman of the California Republican Party and supporter of the recall Tom Del Beccaro clarified the reasons during a virtual town hall meeting last week.

“Newsom is a failed governor who mismanaged the pandemic and threatened the state’s economy by shutting down businesses,” said Del Beccaro. “We don’t truly have a (coronavirus) crisis.”

Other supporters, including 2018 Secretary of State candidate Mark Meuser and 2019 California Republican Party Chairman candidate Steve Frank, have also given high taxation and second amendment violations as additional reasons for the recall.

While the campaign has aimed to get 100,000 signatures in ten days, even the most ardent supporters have noted the recall being a longshot.

“It’s a monumental task,” stated Heatlie. more

  1. Recall WA state governor Inslee too…and Mayor Jenny. Thing is if they get rid of her they’ll replace her with Kshama Savant. It’s a no win situation here in Seattle.

The Seahawks wives protested today along with thousands of their closest friends and walked across and closed down the i90 bridge. Pete Carroll said he’s consider hiring Colin Kaepernick. So, we’re all in here. I fear what’s in store for the new NHL team. 🤦🏼‍♀️

  2. I’m sure the attorney general will make sure any petitions are in full compliance.
“California’s illegal alien-supporting attorney general, Xavier Becerra, has been curiously silent about that fake server he handed over to cops to obstruct their Imran Awan investigation, according to a new report from the Daily Caller. The broader scandal was outlined in this piece by Thomas Lifson yesterday.”

looking at it from the top down or bottom up, it is still a pile of excrement.

  3. Are there enough voters unhappy with his leadership to vote against him in opposition to those supporting him?

And if there are, will they put someone better in his place, or just someone that is the same but just has a different name>

I have my doubts, but at least I don’t have to live in California the way those who are stuck there and can’t get out for various reasons do.

  4. That’s the problem everywhere. We can’t get rid of bad politicians because fools keep voting them in. Can’t get rid of bad police because union protect them.

  5. The problem with the recalls is they usually fail and then they further embolden these lunatics. CO is a great example, Polis is running the place like he is a lord and he has no fear of reprisal.

  6. We tried the recall here in Nevada, but the amount of signatures required sets you up for failure. I believe our problem is because we are so spread out in the state, with the heavily-populated areas being Reno and Las Vegas; thus, your liberal voters. You just have to get out and vote.

  7. So let me get this straight, this time around, in order to get the petition on the ballot they will need 5 times the amount of signatures that they got on the last effort to recall?

This is just stupid. This is our,”Impeach the President on the smallest of pretenses” effort that made the Dems in the House look positively baffoonish.

Newsom may not be popular in the more purple areas but here in the Bay Area, as well as the other heavily populated enclaves in the state, he is a rock star. They love him here, and they love Nancy as well. Newsome isn’t going anywhere.

    disclaimer – I worked on Arnie’s election in “03.

That is what all my “betters” said in ’03! As is frequently the case my “betters” lie.

having said that; there is no conservative alternative. Arnie WAS very conservative his first year, 1 of the very conservative things he did, which caused his wife’s rich friends to force her to make Arnie undo, was cut the taxpayer subsidy of wind farms 50%! Most conservative analysts say wind farm would die without $taxpayer! Some as fast as 2 years, most within 10 years.

but in ’03 he was the most conservative gov ever. Then in ’04 the Rove/Bush team convinced him if he teamed up he could run for President in ’08’ . so he flipped; and became a GWB liberal.

But all the “experts” said 17 years ago he had no chance. I particularly remember a Bush girl saying it was all a stunt. forgot her name and show name. But I was undaunted!

I’ve been lifting weights since Christ was a kid so I was a big Arnie fan. And you are correct, he started out ultra conservative. I remember one of his little campaign slogans, how do you grow a small business in California? Start out with a large one. Arnie got rebuked by voters on something. I can’t remember the issue. But after that he just abandoned any Conservative position.
