New Hampshire Gov.’s Donor Once Barred From Gitmo for Firm’s ‘Security Breach’

Margaret “Maggie” Hassan is an American Democratic Party politician, who is the current and 81st Governor of New Hampshire. Hassan was elected Governor in 2012, and was sworn into office on January 3, 2013.

Martin Flumenbaum, a partner at the law firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, contributed $1,000 to the Hassan campaign in December, according to FEC records. Flumenbaum was one of the senior attorneys that the firm sent to defend enemy combatants held at Guantanamo Bay.

The firm came under fire in 2006 after one of its clients was discovered with an anti-American Amnesty International pamphlet that portrayed U.S. forces torturing and abusing Muslims. Another of the firm’s attorneys gave the accused terrorist the pamphlet, shielding it from the base’s typical screening process by claiming the pamphlet was court related.  MORE

  1. Apparently she’s running for the Senate this year against Ayotte. Frankly, I suspect she didn’t even know about the donation from this guy although the law firm he works for is pretty big and in the bag for the Democrats.. The guy she’s married to is a very big wig in the private, high priced schools arena and a tree hugger as well. He’s been warping the rich kids minds for years. The perfect Dem.
