David Harris Jr.
small group of conservative legislators in New Hampshire are moving for the impeachment of their recently re-elected Republican governor over his recent mask mandate.
Five incumbents and two recently-elected state House representatives are behind the resolution that would initiate an impeachment inquiry against Governor Chris Sununu.
“This move was not taken lightly,” said Representative Andrew Prout, one of the seven pushing for impeachment. “We must restore our government to its constitutional roots – with checks and balances – where the Legislature writes the laws and the executive branch implements them.”
Like governors across the nation, Governor Sununu has been enacting executive orders under certain state emergency powers in response to COVID-19. In the spring, he enacted a statewide shutdown. Last week, he enacted the state’s first mask mandate. more
As they should.
Silly legislators, it was the legislature that passed whatever emergency powers laws that Sununu is abusing. Repeal or amend the law by a veto-proof majority.
Yes, yes, yes, several governors are grossly abusing their “state of emergency” powers, and they need to be stopped. But to ignore the role that the state legislatures played in setting up this ugly situation is dumb.
Well that makes sense. The Governors boundaries weren’t well defined so it’s not his fault he’s a Nazi.
Be aware that Flununu also have vetoed every attempt by the Nashua Democommies to pass Gun Control bills. So one can hope that they aren’t once again attempting to shoot themselves in the foot.
This guys stinks as bad as any of RINO’s that infest our government. I am a life long NH resident and have the experience of being under the sununu-clan-thumb in the past but this POS takes the cake and is why IMHO with all the voter fraud that took place even in tiny NH he is the ONLY republocrat to win his race and NH uses dominion…. think on that one for just a moment.
He has flip-flopped on shamdemic since this whole rotten fiasco descended upon us and he began his diktat spree with killing off NH’s ONLY public beach that has ocean access by telling us that gathering on beaches, even with social distancing circles made in the sand is forbidden because it is too dangerous to take a chance that someone’s mask might slip in the 90+ degree heat.
When all the business owners got together and pushed a recall vote on his dumb ass he immediately flopped on his position and “allowed” the restaurants to occupy the ONLY road that leads to the beach (the old Rt 1) so they could set up outdoor dining in the middle of the goddamn road… all the other businesses were told to go pound sand since they did NOT gather for a recall push.
In a final F-U to residents and tourists in general he made parking ANYWHERE near the beach illegal, so anyone who did not own property was forced to park over a mile away from the beach and walk in for the pleasure of eating on a dirty street and he called that a “win” for NH and its citizens who depend on summer tourism to survive.
State Motto:
“live free or die”
My ass!
Thanks to this POS it has been changed to:
“obey my unconstitutional diktats or get thrown in jail”
Their guvy does not have all his oars in the water. See the state flag.
