New York, Detroit air quality among world’s worst as cities are engulfed in Canadian wildfire smoke

JTN: New York City and Detroit are among the worst cities for air quality and pollution globally on Wednesday as smoke from wildfires in Canada engulfed much of the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic.

New York City is currently ranked as the fourth worst metropolitan area for air quality, behind Delhi, India; Hanoi, Vietnam; and Dhaka, Bangladesh, per air quality monitor IQair. At one point Tuesday evening, New York City’s air quality became the worst of any metropolitan area, CNN reported, and the city was given a score of more than 200, which is described by IQair as “very unhealthy.”

Detroit currently has the sixth worst air quality for any metropolitan area, per IQAir. At one point Wednesday morning, Detroit had the second worst air quality in the world, with Delhi, India being the only city with worse air, according to The Detroit Free Press.

Both New York City and Detroit are experiencing a concentration of fine particulate matter in the air that is at least 15 times more than is considered safe by the World Health Organization. more

  1. We should all blame Turdeau.

If I was living in Canada, I would be in favor of deporting the SOB to Cuba where he is a citizen by inheritance through his old man.

  2. Has Canada spent $Billions on forest management like Coomifornia.

Also, anybody else think the Camp Lejeune water contamination suit is just a big money laundering scam?

  3. NYC is giving out N95 masks, the rest of NY State gets zip, with the governor saying stay inside. Just how do you work staying inside?? I guess the governor won’t be worrying about other NYers that don’t live in NY City breathing in the bad smoke.

  4. My son keeps sending me photos from his home in Upstate NY. The sky was a dark orange and you can barely see the sun. It looks very similar to when Commiefornia was on fire a almost 3 years ago. At midday it was so dark that people drove with their headlights on and we are right on the ocean. Very eerie.

  5. More Particulate emissions floating around than all the “dirty power plants” in the area combined. Someone please stick a microphone in AOC’s face we need some congressional insight on this lol.

  6. Just in passing, I live in the American West [NOT a coastal state]. We have the occasional wildfire, some big. And aome human caused. When it happens, the Leftists always whine about how evil humans are destroying the planet and triggering climate change, etc. Yet, when it is a fire in a Socialist totalitarian country like Canada . . . silence.

  7. Wildfires are natures way of renewing the forest. They had those horrible fires in Yellowstone and said it would take a decade or more for recovery, it took 2 years.

  8. But yeah, air quality in Upstate NY. Brisk wind out of the north has been funneling down smoke for 3-4 days. Yesterday and today I could see it and smell it, very bad for anyone with respiratory problems.

  9. I live in the Northern Rockies. We have this occur frequently. From mid-July to mid-September forest fires occur and the smoke covers our area. Many of the fires burn until the snow flies.

For some reason these East Coast intellectuals just can’t handle what is routine for us. Of course, they’re all our betters so there’s that……

    BTW,….quit whining.

  10. We know they don’t care how many die, the more the better.
So why wouldn’t they start forest fires as well.
Are people who got the JAB more susceptible to lung issues?

  11. Contaminated air in Detroit and NYC……
    I have two questions:
How can they tell the difference?
Considering all the drugs they smoke, don’t they enjoy being able to see what they breathe?
