Nigerian President Bola Tinubu condemned President Donald Trump’s statements acknowledging the ongoing genocide of Christians in his country in remarks on Saturday, claiming they did not reflect “reality,” while a top adviser told local media Tinubu planned to meet Trump “in the coming days.”
“The characterisation of Nigeria as religiously intolerant does not reflect our national reality,” Tinubu said in a statement on Saturday, “nor does it take into consideration the consistent and sincere efforts of the government to safeguard freedom of religion and beliefs for all Nigerians.”
The president claimed his administration “maintained an open and active engagement with Christian and Muslim leaders alike.” His statement did not address the top jihadist threats in his country – ethnic Fulani jihadist militias and the terrorist organization Boko Haram – by name. more

Time for the Nigerian dictator to learn President Trump has his home address…coded into a “pop the weasel” drone if this sleaze bag keeps killing Christians.
Nigeria fought a bloody war of unification from 1967 to 1970, when largely Christian Biafra attempted secession. The Christians lost and the Muslims won. The subjugation of Biafra has guided actions of the Muslim dominated military and Federal governments ever since. (A quick mention of population figures. The census in Nigeria is highly political. Numbers cannot be trusted. I am not sure that an accurate census is even possible, let alone desired. Years ago, I was involved, remotely, with a fisheries project on the border with Cameroon. Population figures for the project area fluctuated by up to two orders of magnitude, depending on who was supplying the numbers.)
The Biafran secession was driven as much by linguistic/ethnic divisions as it was by religion. It was the neutral position taken by other Christian ethnic groups in Nigeria that allowed the united Muslim front to crush Biafra.
Ironically, those Christians who are currently suffering from Muslim aggression were among those who abandoned the Biafrans (well, not precisely those who abandoned Biafra, but the older generation, those over 70ish, were).
The Fulani are pastoralists who have not only seen farmers: Christian, Muslim and animist, encroaching on traditional grazing areas, but rapid increases in their own population has created pressure to expand their traditional grazing areas into long established farmlands.
While, historically, Fulani aggression has been largely ethnic, though always underscored by Islam, the growth in power of Boko Haram in the region has coopted traditional Fulani ethnic aggression into their jihadist aggression.
Because they won the civil war, the largely Muslim military has always treated the Fulani with deference, because many of them are Fulani, beyond being Muslim. Crackdowns on Fulani murderers has always been less than half-hearted. Military reaction to Boko Haram has also been ineffective. Effective suppression of jihad and/or the Fulani would likely trigger mutiny and another bloody civil war…which would quickly morph into an even bloodier regional jihad, starting in the Sahel and Lake Chad regions, then rolling into Christian and animist regions…just as is happening in Sudan.
It’s all just unfinished business, Muslim dominance and conquest (colonialism) interrupted by roughly 100 years, some areas more, some less, of European colonialism.
An organized and united regional jihadi force would likely be unstoppable, as most national militaries in the region are dominated by Muslims and civilians are largely unarmed or lightly armed.
The election of Trump has had a significant calming effect on conflict throughout the world (not perfect, but a noticeable improvement). A return to another Obama administration would trigger a global bloodbath…by design.
