Breitbart: The capital city of New Mexico doubled down on its sanctuary city status despite knowing it is risking losing federal funds. The Santa Fe City Council unanimously approved a resolution reaffirming its policy.
Responding to a threat from President-Elect Donald Trump to defund sanctuary cities, the council moved forward with plans to refuse access to city property by immigration agents and keep the immigration status of any person confidential.
“This is doubling down,” City Council Member Joseph Maestas, the Albuquerque Journal reported. “We’re thumbing our nose at this incoming administration.”
In reference to the possible loss of federal funding, Santa Fe Mayor David Cross told the council, “If that’s all we’re worried about, shame on us. That’s not what Santa Fe is about.”
The State of New Mexico has gone back and forth on its position on cooperating with immigration officials. In 1986, then-Governor Toney Anaya declared the state to be a sanctuary state, according to SanctuaryCities.info, a website that tracks such jurisdictions. When NM is inundated with all the illegals that flee the other former “sanctuary cities” they will have to rethink their stance. And because progs aren’t very good at math, they’ll no doubt very much miss that fed funding, too. Can’t wait to see how Sante Fe creatively deals with raising taxes to cover for the deficit and shell out social benes to all their new illegal friends.

Good! Hopefully Soros will waste millions trying to prop them up after the federal funding is withdrawn. Otherwise they won’t last two weeks.
It all looks good for photo ops and magazine interviews but just wait until the funds are cut off, the arts funding has to stop as well as every bit of discretionary funding dries up to special interest groups, tourism collapses and illegal criminal aliens take up residence after fleeing towns where the laws are starting to be enforced. Assuming the good Mayor and council haven’t been run out of town I wonder how long it will be before the reality forces sanity back in their progressive heads.
Santa Fe is the stupidest looking place I ever saw. All construction is required to reflect the adobe theme in honor of the Pueblo culture. Gas stations, hospitals, homes, bowling alleys, government buildings, tire stores and businesses of all types are required to look like a weird adobe village. It would be like Texas requiring every building to look like a an old town from a western movie. What if I wanted to live in Santa Fe and wanted a home built in a modern style. I couldn’t do it because the city forbids it. Those bastards should be forced to live without electricity, air conditioning and running water if they want to be true to the Pueblo culture.
