An audit by the State Comptroller’s Office has revealed that hundreds of dead people were enrolled in New York’s health exchange, with nearly two dozen of them enrolling after death.
Medicaid payments totaling over $300,000 were paid out to a majority of the deceased individuals.
That’s one helluva pre-existing condition.
They’re all voting too

It didn’t enroll hundreds of dead people. There are 21 known cases where it enrolled dead people. The remainder were enrolled while alive, but continued to receive benefits after death. It doesn’t say how long after death, so it’s difficult to tell if this is the a standard timelapse (e.g. a month or two) until death notifications take place and payments are stopped, or if it’s something more serious. Some of each I expect.
