NYC: Bratton accused of fudging ‘record low’ crime stats

NYPost: Former Police Commissioner Ray Kelly suggested on Tuesday that the NYPD is manipulating crime statistics — and challenged Mayor de Blasio’s assertion that New York remains the safest big city in America.

When asked during a ­radio interview about data put out by his successor, Bill Bratton, showing overall crime at record lows, Kelly laughed.

“I think you’ve got to . . . look at those numbers because I think there are some issues with the numbers that are being put out,” Kelly said on AM 970. “I think there’s some redefinition going on as to what amounts to a shooting, that sort of thing.  more

  1. I have never diminished Ray Kellys accomplishments one bit. He achieved a great deal and has a superb resume on paper.

    That being said, he is the epitome of a hypocrite and a phony. If anyone knows about pandering and creating a false impression of safety, its him. He is the master of falsified crime statistics and had overseen numerous scandals involving cooked books.

    Go away Ray…. you are being vindictive and petulent. You are a spoiled old man now. Stop it.

  2. If they are using “Compstat” like Chicago, it is could be manipulated; a home invasion becomes a trespass; a robbery becomes an assault. The word is that the FBI will not use the Chicago stats for the UCI…lets see what they do with the NYC stats…
